No matter what I do, images I upload here never look quite as clear as looking at them 1:1 on my laptop screen locally. I also see that they change size a bit. I am uploading this test image (1024 best quality), so I can try it on a different browser (thinking the my browser might be at fault ..read more

What noise level do you target?

OK, ideally we would all like our images to have zero noise, but that's not always desireable. Depending on how much noise there is originally, how high the ISO is, how small the sensor is, how much we crop, how much we boost exposure, etc etc, there will be some background noise in a digital image. When I started, I obsessed over noise removal, often to the detriment of detail in the images. I began to realise, depending on the target viewing size and medium, a certain amount of noise... How to replicate iPhone filter

Hi all One of the built in effects on the iPhone Photos app is ‘Dramatic Warm’ which I quite like for some subjects. I’ve attached an example - original and a ‘Dramatic Warm’. I’d like to know how to get that effect in Affinity Photo (which will probably be similar to Photoshop). I think there’s an obvious warmer tint and maybe crushed blacks but I think there’s more to it. Any ideas? Thanks ..read more

Hi folks. Can you help with this? Took photos of buildings in manchester, I knew they needed straightening but not sure if doing it right. I was using the guided feature in LR, where you add lines and it auto pulls 'straight'... Either I was too close to the building or something?? Below is unedited and 'edited'. No editing done, not even cropped, was part of a HDR 3 shot which was going to be composited, this is just one fo the middle frames. Does that edited one look right? I understand I... I have purchased and downloaded a set of profiles for Lightroom Classic and ACR. They perfectly in Lightroom but I cannon get them to load in to ACR. I have followed the instructions, but it did not work. I tried manually placing one if the profile folders into the correct location and still ACR does not see/recognise the profiles. The folder Architecture is in the correct location, but does not show up in the list of available profiles in the pane on the right. Any help would be... Stitching multiple images - variations in light.

Ok I've never done this before so don’t laugh at me. I didn’t really want to do it but just got back from an evening walk after seeing a fantastic rainbow. Luckily, I had my Lumix G80 with me and took a couple of shots. unluckily, the lens wouldn’t go wide enough to get the whole thing so I took a few shots with the idea of trying for the first time to stitch them together. I took them all in manual whilst holding down the ‘AF/AE Lock’ button so I don’t understand why the different lighting... Stitching multiple images - variations in light ..read more

I have the latest version of PS/LR, but am 'very' new to the software, hence my question... When I use the import images feature to have my photo's in LR, are they synced on their cloud at this point and using my allocated memory, or, does it just store the location of the imported files at that point until I put them in a catalogue? I see the drive letter, folders and subfolders for my photos, from my drive... e.g. Windows C: and directory path as applicable. The initial package I have... Lightroom question please ..read more

I am a long term Photoshop user (over 10 years) and seeing as LR is included in the bundle I have just installed Lightroom Classic 11.3.1 and am gradually working through the features. I have created a catalog of all my photos all 34,240 of them. My question is, I have deleted some images from within Bridge, how do I refresh my Lightroom catalog to reflect the changes made in Bridge? To put it simply the deleted images are still showing up in my Lightroom catalog ..read more

Lightroom CC - Virtual copies

I am now starting to check things out in PL, immediately I come up with a question, hope you guys can share your thoughts. I noticed on a video I watched that you can create a virtual copy of the files/photographs, the advantage being the original remains untouched and all work is done on the virtual copy. Being a virtual copy it is only a list of changes made to the first file which I think is a good idea as disc space, no matter how large, fills up fast. My question is, is it wise to...
