Hi everyone! My new tech has actually done a lot in the last few weeks but the database is still very bloated. We are meeting Monday to make plans for migrating the forum to bbphp, but with a single seamless login. Some of you will remember that Kevin tried to get me to do that years ago. That should help the most with speed! Right now the site is kind of on the edge of a crash continuously… I can cause the above error that Joe posted, just by performing a search in my media folder. Gosh…at least the site seems to be in existence now…lol…but really so slow it’s not practical…I do miss y’all and hope everybody’s doing fine.  I have put bunches of stuff up on youtube but wouldn’t even attempt to sit here and wait for it to share…I won’t bore you with the effort…you’ll have to just play some tunes yourself….lol…then maybe the site will be back and you’ll have a ton to share here…hey?  Everybody take care.  I’m gonna check back in a few days ..read more

Understanding the chord progression well, and having a choice of “go to” licks memorized that will fit different chords is a great start. Take for instance two tunes in the key of G. Both start out with two measures of G Take the melody from tune one and insert it into the first two measures of tune two. you have just improvised… another example: You know two breaks to the same tune. take a lick from any chord in one break and replace it with the corresponding lick from the other break.
