Blog for free quilting tips and tutorials. Mother of 2 Allison started this blog in 2007 as a way to keep a record of the things she was making. She also started quilting around that time, so this blog has followed her journey from a brand new quilter, to a quilter that sort of knows what she's doing.

Whenever I'm overwhelmed with life and stressed out by all that I need to get done....you can count on me starting a totally unnecessary quilting project. In this case it was these Christmas Tree quilts that I started (in June!) while were getting ready to move and our house was mostly packed up. I made...

I can finally share my new Christmas quilts here without it feeling weirdly too early! I quietly released a few new patterns this summer after doing some Christmas sewing in June. This is the Evergreen quilt, and it was made with a layer cake of Good News Great Joy, by Fancy That Design House. It's...

The past few times I've released a new fabric line, I try to design at least a couple of patterns that use pre-cuts. This go around with Clover & Dot fabric I designed these Plaidy Cake and Windows quilts that I'll share more about below (knocking out two quilts in one blog post!). Plaidy Cake...

When I'm drawing out a new fabric line I usually have a rough idea of the quilts I want to make with it, but I KNEW I wanted to make a big flower quilt. After tinkering with designs for a month I went back to basics and landed on a giant Daisy block. The main...

Yay for new fabric! Clover & Dot is my 8th fabric line created with Windham Fabrics. It's available now for shops to order, and will be available to buy in March. This line has my go-to colors, with a denim blue and pop of orange. I LOVE the basics in this line! The multi colored...

Meet the Kitty Cats! I’ve had this quilt on my mind ever since making my Chickens quilt a few years ago. It uses a similar layout as that quilt…but the kitties are definitely quicker to make.
I had such a hard time narrowing down fabric to make this quilt…anything would be cute in these big blocks.
How cute is the backing fabric with the cats on it?!!! I found it here…it was too perfect not to buy even though I have tons of backings already.
Most of the fabrics I used in this quilt are from this adorable fabric line Birdsong by Gingiber. The colors are so happy, and the mix of scales is perf ..read more

Well hey! I didn’t mean to take such a long break from posting, but I think I say that almost every time I post now, so I’m just accepting it. Somehow I was locked out of my website, and I knew it would be a nightmare to figure out how to get back in (it was!) so I put it off for too long. At least I have some fun quilts to share now!
While I was making my first Tangled quilt last year I knew I had to remake it in ombre…it’s such a great pattern for it! The last quilt I used ombre in was Trellis, and there’s just something about organizing and laying out these blocks by color that ..read more

Can you believe Thanksgiving is a day away? My brain is still in September!
It’s that week again when everyone seems to have a Fall Sale, and I’m adding to the craziness.
Visit my shop this through 11/28 for 25% patterns and Diagonal Seam Tape.
Now that Forget Me Not is in stores, I need to post this quilt! I knew Heartsy would be perfect in this fabric and I love the way it turned out.
I used these 1/4 yards for it…narrowing down fabrics is the hardest part of making a quilt sometimes.
Each time I make these heart blocks and lay them out I’m tempted to stop h ..read more

My kids are back in school after what felt like the shortest summer ever…and even though I’d take another month of summer, I’m also ready to get back to routines and back to my sewing machine! Fall is my favorite time to sew, so I rounded up some of my favorite past fall quilts all in one post.
Fall Leaves still takes the top spot as my favorite fall quilt. I’ve seen some fabulous versions of this quilt over the past year on Instagram! Every time I see a new one I like it more than mine and I want to remake it.
