Hello everyone. I am extremely new to candle making and got my first starter kit to test the waters. I followed the instructions and temperatures recommended but I’m getting a lot of pits and craters when the candles are dried. I watched and read a bunch of do’s and donts but can’t seem to get it right. I experimented with black liquid dye today too. Now, the thermometer the kit came with hasn’t exactly been reliable and I found a digital thermometer worked better. I used a blow dryer (I... Read more ..read more

I have bees and started making candles. Not a candle burning kind of guy but always into something to make money. I made some beeswax dipped candles and they burn good with no dripping. No problem. But I poured a two inch pillar and it only wants to burn a spot about an inch and a half wide. Shouldnt it burn all the way to the outside? Never burnt candles so I am DUMMY ON THIS. Please help. I used a 60 ply flat braid cotton wick ..read more

Candle help - not throwing scent?

I’ve looked just about everywhere for why this might be happening and I cannot for the life of me find an answer. Please help !! So, I’ve been having a weird issue with my candles. I just started making them a couple months ago and I’ve only just now started actually burning the “successful” attempts. The issue is… despite the candle smelling quite nice when solid or melted via heat gun or wax warmer, it’s not throwing any smell whatsoever when actually lit. I have one that just smells... Wick size - please advise

Hi, Can anyone please tell me - according to the attached photo - does this candle has too thick or too thin wick? The wax is just about to drip off. I did some experiments with flat braided cotton wicks: 18, 24, 30 and 36 ply and it actually behaved similar for all: the wax melts and sometimes drip. And also: For a candle with more fragrance (essential oils), in general, shall I wick up or down? And for a candle with more color, shall I wick up or down? Some technical details (though I... Dull Spots on Wax Melts in Silicone Molds

Does anyone know what causes these kinds of dull spots in the otherwise shiny surface of my wax melts? It looks like a tiny bit of wax stayed in the mold maybe, but I let it cool sufficiently and even popped it in the fridge for a bit; they came out really easily. I use C55 coconut tart wax and this silicone mold is brand new. I'm hoping to avoid clamshells but not if I can't get these smooth and pretty ..read more

Hi all, I'm new to candle making and would really appreciate some advice. I'm melting down old candles and mixing with beeswax but I notice that it needs a number of pours over time and that, on one of them, there's a hollow hole. Can anyone explain why this happens and what I might be able to do? Thanks ..read more

Gel Candle Cloudy

Hi everyone, I did a ton of research before making my first gel candles, to ensure I had the right temperatures, FO, wicks etc. Despite this, my first batch of 3 are cloudy when set - not freshly poured, but set/cured. There was a lot of air in them, so some online advice said to pop them in the oven. I watched the air bubbles rise out and the clarity was amazing - super crystal clear! Then I allowed them to cure again = cloudy. Does anyone have any ideas or advice please? Thank you... Read more ..read more

Hello! I am hoping to get some suggestions or advise on what to do regarding insurance coverage for candle making? What do you all use? I make goats milk soaps as well and had no issue with finding a company/policy that covers that but I am getting all kinds of rejections when I inquire about coverage for candle making or getting quotes based on how much my estimated sales will be including getting audited by my insurance on yearly bases and giving them access to my financial records-...
