Hi I’m the same stage 4 ovarian cancer. I was diagnosed on 3rd May last year, and same as yourself no symptoms. After the camera and chemo they went ahead and done surgery I had a full hysterectomy and had to have a non reversible stoma in December. I’m now on another drug bevacizumab three weekly. I’m doing great with the stoma I was really worried about living with the stoma but I’ve been fine with it no problems. I hope everything goes ok for you and also I don’t mind speaking offline if that helps x ..read more

Hi, Don’t loose faith, I was told probably no surgery now I’ve got an op planned 10/5. I’m having camera first to ensure they can get it all and if they can they will go straight in!! I have it in my stomach link h and on outside of liver which they believe they can just remove, lungs was metastatic but they haven’t even mentioned that so thought chemo did its job there. i was in the same place as you and know how incredibly difficult it is to manage emotions with so much going on in your head!! im really happy to chat to you off line and share my journey so far if it helps you, no pressure if ..read more

Hi Glass Not Full I think honestly it’s very difficult to say. I’ve had several of these and waited varied times for results, between a couple of weeks to 6 weeks, so I’d go by the longest time suggested by your hospital (4 weeks) and hope results may be available quicker. I’m not sure that the the consultant would get the results quicker and call you in if something were found-I had something found on one urgent mri but didn’t get the results any quicker than I was expecting. Different hospitals all have their own variations due to workloads and availability of radiologists to interpret the s ..read more

From your experience, if the gynae-oncologist has requested an urgent MRI, how long do you have to wait for the results? He’s not expecting it to show anything but I just wondered if the results are likely to be sent to him and me get an appointment again quicker if anything is found? They told me at the hospital today that it could take anything between 1 and 4 weeks for the report to be written and shared with the consultant ..read more

Hi Jane Thanks for your reply. So currently it’s unstaged. The surgeon has written on the letter excision of a large ovarian tumour “with a small patch of wall of the distal ileum (firmly adherent to tumour capsule)” so implying that it was maybe just stuck to it. He said it was easier to remove the small patch so the tumour could be removed whole rather than having to cut into it etc. He has also said that at the time of the surgery there was no other sign of disease. Gynae-oncologist however says that at this stage he cannot say if there is cancer anywhere else etc. I don’t think the GP has ..read more

Hi Glass not full Does this help? Stage 1 ovarian cancer | Cancer Research UK 1C2- is where there is some cancer on the outside of the ovary. Stage 2 | Ovarian cancer | Cancer Research UK Stage 2B would be where the cells have actually gone into the ileum? I am not sure in your case whether is was just stuck to it or whether the cells had got into it. I suppose to get the whole picture - you need the full results and to be staged individually by your doctor. I see you have posted in Ask a Nurse already, I wonder if talking to your GP so they can go through your individual results and what they ..read more
