Defining Women's Economic Empowerment and Resilience
Women’s economic empowerment (WEE) basically means enabling women to earn a decent living. It has taken on a variety of definitions and sometimes, even at the highest levels, is used without definition (e.g. the Beijing Platform for Action, or the 2017 UN High Level Panel reports on WEE). Women Win’s brand Win-Win Strategies commissioned Equileap to assess 100 public companies listed in the Netherlands on their gender equality performance. The findings indicate:
Two-thirds of the companies offer transparency on social supply chain topics, but very little data is available on how these companies approach gender equality in the supply chain.
