Im in middle school and started wrestling in December. Im still doing off-season practice, maintaining a fairly healthy diet, and I've been doing some cardio. Any exercise, diet, or js general tips? I want to gain more stamina\resilience and upper body strength. Im interested in strength training and lifting. Im a 5'3, abt 116 lb. girl. Mixed feelings about wrestling

I’m a sophomore about to start his 2nd wrestling pre season and a few practices ago I came back to wrestle after summer break and I feel like I’ve gotten significantly worse. I never did good in the season but when school was about to end I was doing great but now I came back and I’ve been wrestling in practice like shit and I just don’t feel too good anymore. I also want to focus on my grades now so I don’t know what I want to do, either quit or find an mental exercise to get myself back on my feet since I’ve never had the greatest mindset. Any suggestions? submitted by /u/Regular_Promise_8 ..read more

Opinions On Peak Strength Training App

so far for wrestling training i’ve just been doing powerlifting, which has worked pretty well, i’m noticeably strong than 95% of the others in my weight class, however i’m definitely lacking in bicep, lat and shoulder strength, which coincidentally are 3 of the most important muscles in wrestling, i’ve heard about peak strength from a few sponsored videos and i was wondering if anyone’s actually used it, and if so did you feel like it worked well and is worth the cost? or would i just be better off following a free plyometrics and strength program? submitted by /u/Agent-Gnome-YT [visit reddi ..read more

Coach said I’m too tense when I wrestle

Today my coach and I looked over some video of me wrestling, and he described my wrestling as “I wrestle like I’m biting my tongue the whole time”. What he meant was that I focus too much on not getting taken down and slowing the pace so much, that I get too tense, too stiff, flat footed and don’t shoot in clear openings. He said in the 1 clip we watched, I had 4 openings to shoot. What things can I do improve this? submitted by /u/mazzhuncho [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How to find a sponsor for my team

I'm a wrestling coach in Harlem, New York where there isn't a huge community investment in the sport My wrestlers are in desperate need of singlets, headgear, gym bags, gym clothes, and shoes. We also need mops and other cleaning supplies to maintain our practice space. Of course the school budget will provide some of these things, but I'm wondering if there is a way to speak to suppliers directly about taking an active investment in our program. Thanks for all comments and advice! submitted by /u/vischy_bot [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I'm currently going into my junior year of HS in a few weeks and have been interested in wrestling. I see wrestling as a cheap, fun way to get in shape while I focus on my career that requires you to be in shape, but I haven't wrestled since I was a little kid. Is it too late to start? Also my schedule is pretty packed and I'll be wrestling at a different school than the one I attend. Is this all too much of a concern? I'm also relatively out of shape, skinny-fat, and tall. I'm not opposed to strenious activities and one of the main reasons for wanting to start is to get in great shape and st ..read more
