We bought a house prior to it being built. After it was done the problems we had inside and outside were unbelievably. I started to think that we were just out of the loop and this is normal for new house track home construction. Then I started looking closely at the siding and referred to the installation instructions from the website and it was all wrong. From what I can see most of the contractors here in NWA they are not following all the guidelines. The homes built by our builder they... I'd like to talk about James Hardie siding ..read more

There is a gap under my edge shingles and the drip edge along the gutter and water is running back under there. Can I run a bead of caulk/sealant on top of the drip edge and squish the shingles down onto it? Or will that trap water behind it? Thanks ..read more

Gutter can't achieve slope. Add weep hole?

I have a 20' run of gutter that can't achieve the slope needed. I guess the house is crooked. After a rain, this portion of gutter had about a 0.5-1" of water standing in it. would it be a bad idea to add a weep hole at the low spot so it will slowly drain after a rain? Of course it'll drip during rain, but most of the water will theoretically make it to the downspout. Gutters are new and they said there's no room for adjustment when they came to check it. Of course an additional downspout... Gutter can't achieve slope. Add weep hole ..read more

My contractor built an addition on the rear of our house to accommodate my mother in law moving in. The way the new metal roof ties into the existing aluminum siding I feel is less than adequate. There is no flashing and I'm afraid of water damage. Any advice on how to make good would be really appreciated. See pictures ..read more

We had our front soffit (XRF 0.5 lead) removed and replaced because of water damage. We put down 6mil plastic on the ground so I’m not as concerned but mostly worried about dust traveling upward. Does lead dust travel upwards when using an oscillating tool? I’m worried lead dust traveled into the attic into the cellulose and will fall through the ceiling. Very stressed I poisoned my whole family by choosing removal ..read more
