Funny enough I front rant the Simulcast idea to Brandon when we ended yesterday. I had thought it made ESPN+ an interesting potential home as they have used simulcasts on ESPN+ in ways that brought internet audiences of a popular golf Podcast for the PGA Championship. Given the McAfee connection and signing and UFC relationship with ESPN+ it seemed like there could be smoke to it but it would be dependent on WWW wanting to do a simulcast which I strongly believe helps bring engagement from internet and younger demos if you utilize the right people. Yota Tsuji was sensational in the main event and was backed by a red-hot audience ready to see the young star ascend and win the championship. It flew in the face of all the arguments of how long it takes to make a star and needing a long-term build as opposed to skyrocketing someone, so the audience takes them seriously and is taken by the new blood in the main event picture that represents a sea change. SANADA won the match, but Tsuji cemented his place as a future main event star and displayed top-level charisma in the seventeen-minute match.

The ‘Championship Friday’ edition of AEW Rampage failed to spike numbers for the show.
The June 2 taped show from San Diego averaged 357,000 viewers and 150,000 (0.11) in the 18-49 demographic as it ranked #12 among cable originals on Friday. (Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily).
It was still Rampage’s strongest number in the 18-49 demos since April 22, which was a Saturday night broadcast.

The 1000-day celebration of Roman Reigns’ championship win was a major draw this past Friday.
The June 2 edition of Friday Night SmackDown in Wilkes-Barre averaged 2,563,000 viewers and 955,000 (0.73) in the 18-49 demographic and dominated everything on television on Friday. (Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily).

What’s the story behind Shawn Michaels’ 4 year hiatus? Was he actually injured for all four years? Or did he have no interest in becoming a full time performer again until 2002?
