Hi all, Thank you for allowing me to join this forum, My name is Mark and I live in a small village called Alfriston in East Sussex. I retired from ill health a few years ago. So I decided to buy the two things I had wanted for a few years, the first was a Jaguar XKR, and the second was a CNC machine. The CNC sat in its boxes for about a year and a half as my health was quite bad and I just could not manage to put it together. But now I have. The machine I have is an Ooznest Workbee Z1+ 1000x1000. It is now sitting in my small shed waiting to be homed. And that is where I finish this introduct ..read more

Chinese Sliding Axis

Been using my home built cnc mill router for years now for personal use. Its getting a bit worn and after being shipped with our belongings from Europe to New Zealand , everything is a little out of wack. The Y,Z axis shake while doing 1.5mm doc in 6062 aluminium to the point where I cannot get smooth profiles or pockets. A lot of tool chatter. I have tightened everything up and tried to square things up a little. Im a bit older now and my patients span is short . So, I'm considering swapping the Y/Z axis out for ready built units. I have been looking at Chinese ones and understand maybe they ..read more

So, in 2013, I sought advice about a VFD from this venerable forum. (here's the thread - https://www.mycncuk.com/threads/6533...lling-remotely ) ....in the end I bought a Toshiba TOSHIBA VF-NC3S-2007PL, unboxed it, put it in a cupboard (pending me buying a water cooled spindle - which I never did!)...it's never been used. I'm having a clear out so putting this up for sale. current new price is about £160 + VAT delivered ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255714701494 ....seller is in Italy, so VAT will be applied as it enters the UK), therefore over £190 inc VAT. Looking for £100 delivered Only ..read more

Cambam / pocketing question

by dudz

So I have a piece of 20mm thick 6068 aluminium (400x300) . I know I can create holding tabs in cambam when profiling. Instead of cutting around a piece via profile, I am pocketing around the outside of the piece to be less harsh on the 6mm single flute endmill (although it will have a lot more material to mill) and also I will get much less vibration . I’d like to know if there is a way in cambam to avoid areas while pocketing to avoid clamping areas ? Then I can move the clamps once done to finish ..read more
