Linear Bearing Wear Issues - CR Onsrud Router

So, I am starting to notice some wear on the linear slides of our CR Onsrud router. These are size 25 Atlanta rack with ball runner blocks (see here: BALL RUNNER BLOCK CARBON STEEL | R162221420 | Rexroth ). My question is, does this wear look at all normal? It doesn't seem that these runner blocks have any sort of wiper seal (they do have a grease seal and we keep them greased per the user manual). I'm concerned that MDF sawdust has found its way into these bearings and damaged them. Anybody more familiar with these linear bearings than I am? Perhaps a bearing is damaged and that's what's cau ..read more

Hello everyone, I've been programing Okuma mill and lathe for more than 15 years now and this Omniturn G4 manual is killing me, figured everything out so far, but the damn CAN cycles I just don't get it. I want to rough something out and then finish with another tool using the same geometry. Can anyone out there explain it to me better than the book? Or maybe I've reached the end of my learning capabilities. Thanks, Bob ..read more

Hi All, I have a '99 Kitamura My2X with pallet changer. The pallet fails to change. Programming M60 starts the cycle. The machine positions correctly, the table unclamps and then it sits and is waiting on something. I've already pressed the button on the changer to allow the tables to exchange. The safety switch in the back corner is set to allow the tables to change. Not sure. In single block the machine stops at the following: G18 G2 X-#100 Z0 R[#100/2] F#31 Seems like the "X" should be positive. Also, some "M" codes are not listed in the manual. O9001 attached. Any assistance is greatly ap ..read more

Anybody have first hand knowledge of the Pocket NC 5 axis mills? Please spare any lectures on this being a toy. I know based on its pricing what it might be. And I'm not a CNC noob. I've been involved in CNC ownership since my first CNC in 1986. My interest is in demonstrating CNC'ing and this machine being desktop might be a good choice. The 5 axis is a big plus too ..read more

I have problem with easy (in terms of tolerances) steel screw with thread, so look specs from Star KNC-20 swiss on which I am trying to make it (problem is thread) to look is there any hint and found out: max. dia. for cutting M10x1.5, max. dia. for thread tapping M10x1.5? I mean you would expect lathe which can do 20mm dia. can cut M14 in steel? Of course slow and with lot of passes? but in spec they say M10x1.5 and it is same as tapping?!? Thread which I am doing is M14x1.5 and it is 7.5mm long. I use G92 cycle because it works perfect on brass screws we made. It is quite similar screw ..read more

I have a 1984 Kiwa excel center. When I turn off the machine the head slowly drops down about a half inch. It looks l like the machine has a counterweight hanging down in the casting. Is there supposed to be something that holds the head when the machine gets shut off? I put a block of wood between the head and the table to avoid the position being wrong for the next start up ..read more
