Carpet beetles were found in my bedroom. My question is about washing clothes/bedding to get rid of the carpet beetles. A number of articles online said that washing items in hot water will kill the larvae and eggs. However when researching how to wash pillows and blankets I read that these items should be washed in cooler water or the item will be damaged. A number of articles of clothing have care instructions to wash in cold water. So I am kind of wondering at this point is it better...

Has anyone ever heard of this being done? We appear to have mice roaming around in our attic, and climbing down into the walls following coaxial cable and electrical wiring holes.
When I go to bed at night, I hear the buggers rustling around and chewing inside the walls of my second story bedroom.
I am thinking, if the mice were to simply die in the walls, I really would not care. Any odor from the dead mice would be minimal since there's normally little air movement anyway inside wall...

We have a 16 foot ceiling, no attic. Twice this week we found small fine white soft material on the floor. Haven't seen any signs of mice. Can't tell exactly what it is or where it's coming from. Anyone have any idea what this may be or what may be causing this. The ceiling is painted sheet rock ..read more

Took advantage of a nice day to look over the exterior of my house and found those $#@#$% yellowjackets had once again chewed small holes through the caulk around some of my windows.
Is there a caulk-type sealant that will deter them from chewing through it any more ..read more

I cut my forest of a back yard last weekend and saw a couple of these legless Glass Lizards slithering away. Being fairly sure that it wasn’t vemomous (thinking it was a snake), I managed to catch one. I thought it was an incredibly weird snake. It had a very rigid body and couldn’t escape my grasp like a snake could. I finally discovered what it was after expanded my search from snake identification. This fella already lost his tail which is supposed to comprise half of his total body...

We have two great porch spaces, but we rarely enjoy them because of the insects. As we near another Spring we will be inundated with spiders, mayflies, dirt dobbers, wasps, and various and sundry no-see-ums. We have tried sprays, oscillating fans, bug lights, a bug zapper, dynotrap, citronella, live mint plants, and concoctions of witch hazel and eucalyptus- and we still spend every morning blowing off mounds of dead insects and every evening wishing we could tolerate sitting on our porch...

Last August we bought a house and moved from a bed bug infested apt building. We kept almost everything in the detached garage and survived the winter with no bugs. Now the temp is warming up and we want to start bringing things in. Our house is bed bug free right now but I'm worried about the stuff that's in the detached garage (family stuff, book series, etc.) I've started looking into different heating options or hiring a company to heat up that detached garage to clean up the whole...
