Title block/Revit sheet parametric data imbedded in the sheet

Hello all! I have been working on some federal projects in Revit and I used to work at a company who had acquired a title block from a different company that had a USACE sheet with imbedded titles that are generated on the right side of the sheet. It had the titles (general notes, legend, keynotes, Key plan, and graphic scale.) which I could drag up and down, go to the properties and input the height I need for each title manually, or change the text in the label if I need to add the word demo, had a north arrow and scale (drop menu for all the different scales) there could be 3 scales placed ..read more

Seeking a guide on linking survey into revit model then linking survey into central model with shared coordinates

As the title says I'm looking for a guide. This is probably the most confusing thing and after 7 years i still do not understand this shit. Create topo revit file with linked survey and correct base point. Create a central model and link the topo file into the central model. My last form has a very particular way of doing this. The one before didn't give a shit about correct coordinates or elevations. We let civil guide this. submitted by /u/WhiteDirty [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Any way to change a link's saved path?

I have a project with a couple of links that were initially linked using a mapped drive letter (i.e. Z:\folder). I generally try to keep links with UNC paths (i.e. \\server\share\folder) as they tend to have fewer issues. But no matter how I try to "Reload From", even using UNC folder locations, it still won't update the Saved Path in the Manage Links dialog. It keeps the mapped drive letter location. submitted by /u/PatrickGSR94 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Bug when Reloading Link
Reddit » Revit

We are running into a cloud model issue that seems to have trapped my project. I cannot reload a linked model, and my coworker cannot reload a different linked model, both with the same error message "Revit has experienced an unexpected error. The operation has been cancelled to protect your project from corruption." This cannot be ignored. The linked models would load normally when part of the project opening and worked fine for days. However going to Manage Links -> "Unload for Me" caused the link to unload and then seemingly can never be reloaded without being blocked by the above error ..read more

Floor covering

Hello everyone I am learning Revit on my own and I have encountered some challenges. In the Revit, I design swimming pools and create 3D visualizations of them. I cover the interior of the pool with different tiling materials and provide the customer with various options. There is a tiling material that I really like; it consists of 9 different mosaic porcelain tiles, and in real life, these tiles are randomly placed when used, meaning they don't follow a specific pattern. Here's the issue I'm facing in Revit: I can't seem to place these tiles randomly. I create the pool base as a single floo ..read more

Building a library of equipment. Capturing with Polycam, exporting point cloud, processing in Recap and importing to Revit model, model in place, copy model from edit in place into revit family. Anyone have a better way? Was hoping there is an automatic way to create family from mesh or something. submitted by /u/agrengs [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

RPC or Good 3D Car Families

I work at a firm that does a lot of car dealerships & I want to show a few brands' specific vehicles in the showrooms. I usually have problems with the usual 3D cars I find online not looking good in plan. I found that RPC models cover most of what I'm looking to do but I can't seem to find many. Free are preferred but I can probably convince higher-ups to flip the bill if needed. submitted by /u/BatmanTDF10 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Extending drop-down menus

Hello Revit world, Back in the stone age when I was using AutoCAD, I stumbled across this great add-on that extended the drop-down menus to the bottom of the screen (or as far as the list went), so that you didn't have scroll all the way down to the bottom to find what you were looking for. I'm wondering if anybody knows of something similar for Revit. Cheers, submitted by /u/Oldfart66 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
