LOS ANGELES (AP) — Led by Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Dallas Mavericks bounced back to take away home-court advantage from the Los Angeles Clippers and newly returned and rusty Kawhi Leonard. Doncic scored 32 points, Irving added 23 and the Mavs won 96-93 on Tuesday night to tie their Western Conference first-round playoff series at a game apiece. “Obviously it was a must-win and everybody was locked in,” said P.J. Washington Jr., who had a big fourth quarter and finished with 18 points. “They punched us in the mouth in Game 1 and we just wanted to respond.” Game 3 is Friday in Dallas ..read more

DENVER (AP) — Jamal Murray didn't even see the biggest basket of his career. At least not live, he didn't. Murray swished a step-back 15-footer over Anthony Davis at the buzzer Monday night, giving the Denver Nuggets a stunning 101-99 win over the Los Angeles Lakers and capping a comeback from a 20-point second-half deficit. Murray tumbled into the Nuggets' bench along with Davis just as his shot fluttered the net and the roar from the crowd shook Ball Arena. “I just lost my balance and fell. I think A.D. was in my way or somebody was in my way and I just heard everybody scream and that's how ..read more

Baseball: It's America’s favorite pastime (though some argue it’s no longer “America’s sport”). (NEXSTAR) – It’s very likely that humans had figured out how to slap their raised palms together thousands of years ago, but it didn’t really become a thing until 1977. Glenn Burke, a former outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is credited with “inventing” the high five during a game against the Houston Astros on Oct. 2, 1977, when he ran toward home plate and raised his hand to greet a teammate who had just rounded the bases after a home run. "His hand was up in the air, and he was arching way back," Burke’s teammate Dusty Baker once told ESPN. "So I reached up and hit his hand. It seemed ..read more
