Grief
Being Sadaf

Grief is the most intense emotion a human can feel.  The trauma before and after is something that feels unbearable.  Grief kills your soul, kills your will to be who you once thought you would become.  I don’t see the “light at the end of the tunnel”, there is no such thing for me right now.  The life we built, we were so proud of, has come to an end.  Rehan and I were always dramatic, so it’s only fitting that he left us in the most tragic way.  We lived an extraordinary life and now I don’t know what to do.  Forget that I don’t even know who I am. I can’t ..read more

I was putting the final touches of my make up on when I received a text. “They think I am having a stroke. I am going to Mt Sinai West’s ER”. I was supposed to attend the premiere of M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie “Old” that evening, the first event I would attend in New York City. I stopped everything I was doing, put away my makeup, put on my shoes and walked straight to Mt. Sinai West. That was the day my life changed forever. What is Change?
Being Sadaf

What is Change? Change is exactly what the word means. Change is when you leave behind anything that is a regular part of your life. That last moment, that last time of normalcy that gave you comfort. Leaving Houston was like that for me. The next time I head to HOU, I will feel like a guest because the city in reality is no longer my home… but in my heart, it will always be a part of who I am. Leaving behind a part of you, while taking a piece of everyone with you. Exciting and painful. This is my third move in almost 14 years. Each time it’s been emotional for me. Some guys may not feel a ..read more

Goodbye Houston

How do you say goodbye? I have to be honest here. I am not good with saying goodbye. So I won’t. Instead I will just say thank you. As I approach the last week of living here as a Houstonian, I have to say, it all feels bittersweet. We are sad to leave a city that gave us so much: Friends, family, and a good life, but, we are extremely excited for our new chapter in NYC. The past weekend was a whirlwind of events. Starting the weekend off with my farewell party. I can’t get into it with out feeling teary eyed. My hosts and friends made it so special. Each and everyone of you who came will al ..read more

On February 12, I attended my first event of 2021. Covid has prevented us from attending and participating in what I would say was our normal way of life. LCA magazine’s, Ruchi Mukherjee, hosted her annual magazine reveal party which took place in Tootsies. Due to the Covid restrictions, the Power couple Daniella and Carlos Correa were not present, but were there in spirit and on the cover. There I reunited with my social circle and finally had the opportunity to connect with my friends after almost a year. Check out the pictures and and the beautiful outfits worn by all of the attendees ..read more

The Fashion Haus fashion show, “Cloud Atlas”, was the social event I attended after so many months due to the Covid-19 scare.  They had precautions on their website which put me at ease.  My friend David Mackey and I attended this extraordinary show. The show featured the fabulous Joubair Joubert, War Official, Martha Hernandez, Jennette Toscano, Nikki vs Nicole, and of course Yassy Brown. You are going to love the pieces, my favorite one’s were with the headpiece, something you don’t see in a fashion show.  It was definitely a unique experience. Check out the highlights ..read more

Natura Bisse I have been approached by many including my friend and sister in law to try Natura Bisse. Skeptical at first because it’s a very expensive product and one must really want to invest in it. I decided why not. Let’s do this and see if I notice a difference in my skin. Here are my observations: My skin has never felt more soft I don’t feel I need extra products on my face I wake up to a glow in my skin “Invest in your skin. It’s going to represent you for a very long time.” Here are the products I use and highly recommend: Natura Bisse Diamond Extreme face creams eye cream eye r ..read more

There once was a girl who often dreamed she was destined for more than what her city had to offer. Shy, quiet, lost in her thoughts, unaware of what life had in store for her. As she grew up, she lost faith in achieving what she had once dreamed. She gave it up to fit into the so-called norm and hoped to make her parents happy. Marriage was the only thing which her parents would be proud of. She often took the road less traveled, arguing about women’s rights. Whether it was religious, cultural, or just in her household. Interestingly enough, she was raised by a strong willed woman whom she ad ..read more

At the end of July, I went in for my annual Mammogram screening.  I have been getting a mammogram since the age of 32 when they first saw some sort of lump or mass.  I remember then how terrifying it was to be rushed into getting an ultrasound, thankfully it turned out to be fiber cystic breast. I went in this time and I could sense something was off when the technician refused to tell me everything looked normal, which is what they have been saying to me for years.  The next morning, I woke up to an email saying, “Abnormal mammogram, please make a follow up appointment for Ma ..read more
