This next school year will be my first year teaching and I will be in a kindergarten classroom! I am not 100% sure as to how many kids I have, what things I'm going to have or any of that. I've just accepted the position.
I was wondering if any of you could give me some ideas, suggestions, etc. for the first days of school! Also if you have any ideas of questions to add to my list to ask...want to be sure I am thinking of everything...Anything you can give me would be great!!
Thank...

Hello,
I have experience teaching third and fourth grade for 20+ years. Right now I am tutoring a kindergarten student. She doesn’t know her letters or her size, but mom wants me to practice her spelling words. English is not her first language. I have spent more than four hours trying to get her to differentiate and learn the words. She has five words all of the same family plus she has her sight words. Again she doesn’t know her sounds or her letters. This little baby did go to preschool...

Has anyone ever gone from a situation where your school traditionally had a kinder graduation to not doing it anymore? It's so hard to do the arrangements (and give parents their preferred amount of communication) when so much else is happening at the same time. Our school has traditionally done the ceremony. The K team would be happy to drop the whole thing next year. I can't imagine the outrage though. Let's face it. The event is for the parents. The kids don't understand it at all. I...

Hello,
I'm a teacher from Egypt wondering about the tools teachers use to create the awesome worksheets I see online.
What fonts do I have to have? Where do I find the clipart? Do they draw everything by hand or purchase them? Any specific programs to use or just Photoshop and MSword?
Any other tips or unknown treasures that you learned while creating resources for your classrooms are more than welcome. Thank you ..read more

I'm looking for a specific clean up song I taped from a kindergarten teacher. I lost contact with her, but she had the song on a record player, and it was fabulous. I after using it many, many times, I often pressed record and part of the song got eaten up.
I tried searching everywhere for this song.
Here's how it goes.
Play the song and learn the words. Then sing it whenever you clean up. It's clean up time. It's clean up time. Let's all do our share. Look on the tables. Look...

There are some days where I feel like my classroom is actually a zoo.
I am a second year teacher and I have devoted so much of my time the second half of the school year to behavior management. As we returned in person, I gained 6 new students in January, 2 of whom have severe behavioral difficulties. Within 2 weeks, I had asked my admin for guidance to which I received none. Literally none. The coach never came when she said she would. She eventually showed and said she would help, did...

Yeah, I'm looking for a little sympathy, though preferably some usable advice if anyone has insight.
I'm teaching online. Purely online. An online school families have to go out of their ways to attend. Kindergarten is not required in our state... which leaves me wondering... why enroll kindergarten if you're not going to work?
I have a student who has been behind, extremely behind, since he enrolled. He does a couple of lessons on average a week in a program that is more or less...
