National Deep Dish Pizza Day (April 5) is a day to celebrate one of America's most iconic and delicious foods, and what better place to do so than in Indianapolis, a city known for its love of pizza and its vibrant food scene. Deep dish pizza originated in Chicago, but it has become a beloved dish across the United States, and Indianapolis is no exception. The city boasts a wide variety of pizza restaurants, serving up everything from classic thin-crust pies to hearty deep dish pizzas loaded with cheese, sauce, and toppings. This list, in no particular order, focuses on pizza places in Indy th ..read more

Jan's Village Pizza in Westfield

Eat like a local at Jan's Village Pizza with a family atmosphere and hometown pride. One of Chris' co-workers put this place on our radar so we made the trip to check it out on a date night. The staff were super personable and friendly - it's the kind of place local high schoolers work. It's a cute historic building off Main street in the old quaint part of Westfield. We started with the smothered breadsticks, which the menu says are "covered with enough mozzarella cheese to make a medium pizza" - but I guess ours weren't really all that smothered, which was kind of a let down. I took notes ..read more

Michaelangelo's Italian Bistro in Noblesville

We've been driving by this place for years and finally made the stop, now we are kicking ourselves for not going sooner! Michaelangelo's Italian Bistro is modern without being stuffy. It feels no-nonsense and unique at the same time. The kind of place you can grab pasta carryout for a weeknight, or have an intimate dinner together (like we did on New Year's Eve). We are checking this place off our pizza bucket list finally! I particularly like the Italian rustic chic look of the front entry with reclaimed wood style flooring and bright red stools. We ended up in a nice booth off to the side ..read more

10 West in Cicero

Small town meets upscale at 10 West Restaurant and Bar in Cicero. This dimly lit date escape is modern with an innovative menu while staying reasonably priced. We got multiple recommendations from neighbors telling us to try their flatbread pizza, so we are checking 10 West off our list! 10 West is part of a super cute strip of restaurants in Cicero that includes Pizza House, DeLullo's, and Bronko's Pizza among others. The tables were pretty far apart from each other, which is fine because it makes it more intimate for a date night. But it looks like they removed some tables for COVID and just ..read more

The Pub at 1802 in Fort Wayne

We had a fantastic lil Sunday up in Fort Wayne! Checked out comic books at an antique store, got to see our nephew win a hockey game, and randomly found this amazing place for all of us to go after the game called The Pub at 1802. They don’t have a weak spot on their menu, it’s really something for everyone from greasy bar food to salads. Everyone in our party of 12 got exactly what they wanted, which is saying something. We started with mozzarella sticks that came with marinara, ranch, and apple butter dipping sauces. The apple butter was a cool twist that you don't usually see, but it was ..read more

Sam's Choice Stuffed Crust Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza
Indy Pizza Blog
by Eric

Back in my college days I would get a buffalo chicken calzone from Johnny's Campus Deli in Oxford, OH and that thing was saucy, spicy, drippy, weighed like 4 pounds, and would give you that under-eye sweat from the heat. When I saw this Sam's Choice buffalo (style) chicken pizza in the freezer aisle, I was sorta hoping it would turn out like that. The back of the box promised "spices that are so bold you can't resist bite after bite of spicy pizza perfection" - game on. It uses a buffalo ranch sauce as a base instead of marinara, and has a three cheese blend and diced buffalo chicken pieces o ..read more

Deep Cuts Lil Yachty Pepperoni and Bacon Pizza

Let me start by saying I don't really know who Lil Yachty is, but I am keen to try new pizzas I come across in the freezer aisle. This is probably the only pizza that comes with its own Spotify playlist, so there's that. I love the packaging, it feels very simple and like a small family business is putting it out. To Yachty's credit, this does appear to be an actual pizza company and not just an existing frozen pizza licensing the name and likeness (like what Palermo's did with the Stranger Things pizza). This is gonna be a super short review, ya'll. It was a perfectly okay frozen pizza. The ..read more

DiGiorno Double Pepperoni Fully Stuffed Crust Pizza
Indy Pizza Blog

Alright DiGiorno, you've got our attention with this FULLY stuffed crust pizza that has an entire layer of cheese through the base not just the outer crust. Their website promises an "entire layer of hot, melty cheese between two layers of golden flaky crust" covered with both sliced and diced pepperoni. It looks really small before it bakes, but the crust rises and fluffs up really well. It's in the Detroit pizza style with a rectangular loaf that nicely cuts into 6 pieces, but the edges obviously don't compare to the cheese crisps from something fresh made. Still, Chris and I were pleasant ..read more

Taylor's Bar & Table at Ingalls

This Taylor's location in Ingalls northeast of Indianapolis. Their Google address says Pendleton but their website says Ingalls. Either way, it's a gorgeous new location that feels very modern like a downtown hotel but also sports-bary at the same time. They have a great bar and a nice beer list. They have a wider selection of local beers than a typical chain, but I don't know if it's enough to be a total beer destination - but a good mix. We started with pretzel breadsticks and white queso. Their website says these are their "famous" breadsticks - but if you've been to as many pizza places a ..read more

Triple Pepp is Back at Papa Murphy's
Indy Pizza Blog

Triple pepp is objectively better than regular amounts of pepp, that's just a fact! We get all the emails from all the pizza places, so obviously when triple pepp is back at Papa Murphy's we start jonesing for a take and bake pan pizza. For the uninitiated, Papa Murphy's sells pizzas that you take home and bake in your own oven. That way you always get super fresh baked pizza without bothering with delivery or trying to race the box home in your car in time to enjoy it hot. Their pan pizza is also delectable and they coat the bottom of the pan in garlic butter so that the juicy spongey pizza ..read more
