SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — There was a moment at the end of the play “Bald Sisters” at Salt Lake Acting Company that I believe was the most profound I’ve experienced at a theater this year.
Sophea (the younger of the title’s bald sisters, played by Audrey Pan in this production) has been attempting to meditate sporadically throughout the show and finding it challenging. April 24 (UPI) — Post Malone, Platinum Dunes and Vault Comics have announced a graphic novel and movie collaboration.
Post Malone, a part-time northern Utah resident, created the original story.
In Post Malone’s story, an 18-wheeler is sent back to medieval Europe to fight demons with its heavy artillery. Vault will publish the graphic novel in 2025 while Platinum Dunes develops a feature film adaptation.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has indicted a local man who allegedly stole from a dollar store and a jewelry business while armed.
According to court documents, on May 6 of last year, 24-year-old Carlos Anthony Martinez, of Salt Lake City, robbed a Grantsville dollar store employee of money and merchandise while armed with a gun.
On May 26, 2023, Martinez allegedly entered Fred Meyer Jewelers inside Smith’s Marketplace in Bountiful.

OGDEN, Utah, April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Weber County Animal Services, which is currently over capacity, is asking pet owners to consider another option before trying to surrender their animals.
Rehome Your Pet is an online pet listing program that allows Weber County residents to list their cats, dogs and other small pets on the shelter website, where potential adopters can review photos and information about the available pets.
The program has helped the Weber County shelter remain a no-kill facility, a news release says.

IRON COUNTY, Utah, April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A man tried on charges that he raped a coworker at a Paragonah dairy in 2021 has been convicted.
Miguel Angel Leon Gomez, 28, was found guilty last week in an Iron County jury trial. He was convicted of:
Forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony
Rape, a first-degree felony
Object rape, a first-degree felony
Forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A motorcyclist was critically injured Tuesday morning in a crash near Ivins.
Crews from Dammeron Valley Fire & Rescue and Santa Clara-Ivins Fire & Rescue were dispatched at 2:06 a.m. to the site, just north of the Lava Flow Trailhead in Snow Canyon State Park, a DVFR statement says.
“The incident involved a single motorcycle, and the rider had been ejected, suffering critical injuries.”

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 24, 2023 (Gephardt Daily) — State wildlife officials has announced a record number of big game animals were fitted with GPS collars this winter.
Those newly sporting the satellite tracking hardware range from 1,153 deer to 18 moose, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources says.
“Each year, the DWR captures big game animals to perform important health assessments and to place GPS collars on the animals to learn more about their migration patterns and survival rates,” the agency said in a news release.

OGDEN, Utah, April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters were dispatched to a single-family house fire early Wednesday, and evacuated 12 residents and one dog.
Crews were called to the scene, on the 500 block of Monroe Boulevard, Ogden, and found the single-story house with flames and smoke showing on the outside of the residence.

HOLLADAY, Utah, April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Holladay home found to be loaded with a large cache of old, unstable dynamite has been detonated by police bomb technicians.
Unified Fire Authority officials said the dynamite, discovered in the home near 6200 South 2300 East, was reported by a new home owner Tuesday. It’s believed the ordinance had been stored in the structure for years by the family which previously owned the residence.

DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah, April 23, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in gathering additional information on an accused child sex offender.
The agency shared a plea for assistance online Tuesday afternoon following the arrest of a Roosevelt man on child rape charges while he was awaiting trial on child pornography charges.
