Dining in buffet restaurants

The only advantage of dining in a buffet restaurant is if you can eat the volume of food that can be consumed by 2 people. But if you can eat just a little more of your regular volume quota of food then you are losing in a buffet restaurant. The only advantage you get in a buffet is the array of dishes to choose from and never with the volume of food that you can eat ..read more

From time to time there is a type of food or drink that goes on a hype. Getting popular the public patronized the food or drink simply because it went viral in social media. The current hype here is the milk tea. Especially the younger generation the milk tea is their choice instead of the traditional fruit juice or fruit shake much more the soda. But the milk tea is very expensive that is why I frown whenever someone would order milk tea ..read more

When the mass transport cannot handle the capacity of the riding public
Frugal Living Forums

The title of this topic is the present situation of the public transport in the Philippines. We have the buses and the city trains that have not enough capacity for the riding public. The middle class is forced to source out their own transport like buying a car or a motorcycle. It is an ordeal to get a ride in the bus or in the train during weekdays. You have to wait in the line for an hour or two. That is the sad state here that is why I am lucky to have a car of my own ..read more

Our cctv is acting up
Frugal Living Forums

There are times that our cctv would reset and boot again. The installer said that the hard disk may be full already so it needs to be formatted. Maybe I should replace the hard disk with a bigger capacity so it can last long without hassle. But now what I see is the need because the hard disk is quite expensive and maybe I can persevere with the intermittent rebooting of the cctv unit. However, the installer said that the recorded video must be accurate and should be there when I need to view ..read more

I need to set aside money for my old age so I opened a bank account for that. It is nice to think that I have the money now and all I need to do is to set aside for my old age. Now I feel good with my budget. There is a bank account for the household needs and there is also the bank account for the stocks. It is not easy to divide the budget and I am glad that there is a bank account for such needs. The ATM card is also very useful when I need cash instantly ..read more

The young sugar apple is fruiting already

Less than 2 years old when I planted but the sugar apple in our front yard is already fruiting. In fact, I had already harvested 1 fruit the other day. It was very sweet but not really big enough to satisfy my craving. The small fruits may grow bigger. I had injected some organic fertilizer on the soil yesterday. It is very gratifying whenever I would see my plants bearing fruits. The okra plants that I have in big plastic bottles are now ready to bear flowers. Let's wait for a few days ..read more

The e-bike is getting more popular in residential villages
Frugal Living Forums

I have noticed the popularity of the electronic bike in residential villages. Instead of taking the tricycle as the main public transport for residents of villages, more people are using the e-bike. One driver of the tricycle said that their income was diminished due to the e-bikes because less people are now riding in tricycles. What if the e-bike is allowed on the main roads? Maybe that can ease the problem of public commuting because the mass transport here is not really efficient at all... Read more ..read more

How often do you go on vacation?
Frugal Living Forums

On the average, we go abroad 3 times a year and domestic vacations about 3 to 5 times depending on the holidays. For domestic vacation we usually go with my wife's sister and her family so we split the expenses. For abroad it is usually just me and my wife so we need to have a good budget for the hotel, food and transportation in the destination ..read more

The time deposit in banks earn very little interest
Frugal Living Forums
by Alexandoy

As a favor to a close friend, I invested the equivalent of $20k to the Time Deposit in their bank. Oh, the interest is paltry and not really substantial at all. Compared to the profit that I earn from stock trading, the interest in the Time Deposit is chicken feed or peanuts. Maybe the central bank should review their interest rates so their product for investment would be competitive. However, I do not intend to withdraw my investment for now. Maybe next year will be the end of that time... Read more ..read more
