Getting down to the wire with my wedding about 3 months away (August 3rd) and as a dabbler in the arts I plan to make my own signs for various things around the wedding/venue. I have a little list of the signs I’m going to need but it’s been awhile since I’ve been to a wedding and I don’t want to miss anything! Would love any suggestions on signs I might be missing… Welcome sign inside the venue Unplugged ceremony sign Signature drinks sign: with full bar menu sign if not included by venue Seating Arrangement we also will be doing brochures in a basket with schedules of the wedding ..read more

I need some advice. When my fiancé proposed we initially decided to elope. Then we decided to go with a micro wedding of 35 people closest friends and family. While that is what we want and we are excited for our day coming in July! Part of me was sad that we won’t have the beautiful mountain pictures of our elopement like we originally wanted. Now, there’s a photographer who is building up their portfolio and wanted models to pose for an “elopement” style shoot in the mountains. It’s free and it’s the modeling for the pictures. We’ve booked and made plans with her. However, now I’m having se ..read more

Has anyone used disposable Kodak cameras?

Cool so I'm from South Africa. I'm 34 and from the disposable camera generation lol. Always wanted to have a few on my tables but they're like $30-$50 each! My dad is working in the US and will be back for the wedding in December. My mom is visiting him and will be back in 6 weeks from now. I've seen some Kodak packages, like 6 cameras for approx $130. I've some cheap ass wedding cameras advertised on Amazon too but the reviews are not good. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can order from, that you've actually used? Is everything in the US just ordered from Amazon? submitted b ..read more

On the topic of gift = price of plate

I’ve recently been seeing a lot of discourse on how much money is appropriate to give. There seems to be a lot of support for the idea that your gift should at least be equal to your plate. Going in to planning, are you budgeting on the expectation that you’ll make back most of your catering bill? I’m assuming that’s why people expect the gift to cover that amount? (I personally do not subscribe to this philosophy just curious) submitted by /u/chikoritastan [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is my budget realistic?

Hi everyone, to start, I'm not engaged yet but my bf has been bringing up wedding topics out of the blue lately so I might be soon! Last night, he asked me what I think our budget should be and I told him I wasn't quite sure but thought around $10k. We already know the price of the venue we want to use ($5k), but I don't have anything else really sorted. Details: micro wedding, no more than 40 people and most likely under 30, I can't use real flowers (venue is a garden and this is a rule), the venue gives us the space for 4 hours so don't need a photographer for a whole day, venue has preferr ..read more

Family didn’t show up for half of wedding

I’m looking for help because I don’t know if I’m overdramatizing this. My family didn’t really show up for me at my wedding. My brother, who I’m fairly close with, didn’t check in once to see how I was doing in the months before my wedding. The week of the wedding, my cousin (also my maid of honor) had major flooding in her house. We’re like sisters, and I ran over the day it happened and checked in on her all week. The morning of the rehearsal dinner, she texted that she had pinkeye and couldn’t make it that night. No apologies, no offers to help out in other ways (she was leading the dinner ..read more

Hi everyone, I don't know whether I'm overthinking things but we just finished setting up our wedding website and it's currently password protected but I'm not really sure if we should put a password on it or not. My main concern is my fiance's ex gf (who we have a restraining order against) and/or her friends to find the website, know the details of our wedding, and mess with things like the RSVPs. I want our website to be as accessible as possible especially for family and friends who are not really tech-savvy. We made our website through Zola. Do you guys have any advice on how to go about ..read more

my (26f) husband (29m) & i want to have a destination reception. i understand needing to invite couples to the dinner/dancing part of the reception as a unit which isn't a problem. the problem comes in that we want to do a catamaran excursion either the day before or day after since it's a destination & (we intend to pay for it) but the biggest catamaran excursions we've seen are 24-25 people. for reference, we don't have any overlapping friends since i met him after i moved 2.5yrs ago 8h away & almost all of them are married. we really just want our friends (not their spouses/par ..read more

Letters to bridesmaids

Good morning! Along with my bridesmaids getting ready outfits/wedding days gifts, I wanted to write them each personalized letters. Nothing crazy, just little letters for their eyes only. I was thinking one page, probably no longer than a paragraph, in a cute little envelope placed right on top of their outfits. Has anyone else done this? Is this a lame idea? TIA :) submitted by /u/Weary-Resolution8155 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Future MIL has high expectation for my poor family.

So my fiancé’s family is very traditional. So there in turn traditional in the sense of how weddings are paid for. So as tradition says the brides family pays for the wedding and the grooms pay for rehearsal along with the honeymoon. My fiancé’s family is much better off money wise than my family is. So they are going all out for the wedding. They are spending a large amount of money on it. Which I’m completely grateful for. My fiancée is going to love it and that’s what’s most important to me. The only problem is my future MIL expecting the same from my family for the rehearsal and honeymoon ..read more
