"Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan urged Palestinians to unite amid Israel’s war in Gaza following hours-long talks with Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Istanbul on Saturday, his office said." Help Each Other with English • Re: Distinguishing a participial phrase from a gerund phrase

The sentence "The store's being closed annoyed the shoppers" is grammatically correct. The phrase "being closed" in this sentence is a gerund phrase, not a participial phrase. A gerund phrase functions as a noun, and in this case, "being closed" acts as the subject of the sentence. Therefore, the sentence is structured correctly. There are many factors. There is a status to upkeep, which drives people to buy the latest things. Social media also has a huge influence, as you are constantly being targeted by products, even when you don't notice it. Statistics: Posted by Mr Greg — Thu Apr 25, 2024 1:14 am ..read more
