My Mum says that I am far more intelligent than my husband in every way even educationally but I would dispute that. My husband and I both lack some life skills but I will take help and advice whereas he won’t. I think I maybe more educated and in tune with diversity than he is. At school I didn’t do particularly well partly due to undiagnosed learning problems but I gained a diploma after leaving school with a good pass mark. I did an official iq tear with some scores in the low hundreds... Intelligence ..read more

I rarely talk to people but when i get comfortable i get too comfortable within not even a day and im already oversharing about past experiences and family issues, and current personal issues. Their not my fucken therapist they shouldn't have to hear my whole life story, oversharing can be dangerous. I do what they call "trauma dumping" i think, but not for sympathy. It just needs to stop, when i do do it i cant even remember if someone asked bc i get off topic sometimes. It's no one's... Tmi ..read more

How do you lie like a pro, im talking about saying something so simple or maybe even ridiculous and making it seem real without breaking character. Not only am i not a good liar but im an open book, and that just makes it worse. Say i need to get myself out of trouble, or im in a situation where i was caught doing something, or if someone was asking me something, or just anything at all!. I need a descriptive response with descriptive detail ..read more

Maybe not a thread really, I apologize. You may delete if not appropriate. I just discovered this site. Just wanted to share part of my story… Gosh, it must have been 5-10 years ago, but now I remember you said in order to get better, I have to go through the tears. And I wasn't quite sure what you meant, because I didn't see where the tears would come from. And you said you cried, you cried, and you cried. I think I get it now. All catharsis. It's not just pain. It's feeling the pain... Just inspiration for therapy ..read more

Is there an active research in personality psychology including further explanation of Big 5 and alternatives?

Ever since learning about Big 5 model I've been thinking about it, and trying to find mechanisms that would explain the traits. IMO what Big 5 measures is just average observed behavior, and says nothing about causes of such behavior. It's tempting to look at traits as some kind of magical entities or forces that lead you to certain behaviors - so if you clean your room, it could be said "my conscientiousness made me do it", or if you hang with your friends for hours you can say "my... Hello, I would like to share my thoughts on some stress responses I have. The reason for sharing this is I would like to know if somebody has similar behaviours and/or comments on my behaviours as I would like to understand them better. I am a male, 24 years old. I will write from the most frequent to the least frequent the responses I have (sometimes) when I am stressed, independently of the cause of stress: 1. Itching: I feel like i need to scratch myself in various parts of the body, in a... Stress responses: itch and putting things in order ..read more

Obedience to New Social Conditions

Hello! I'm thinking about unpleasant social conditions that people are exposed to where compliance is mandatory. One recent example would be the requirement to wear masks in public. Even though some people did not like it, the practice became more routine to them as time went on. Would this be an example of habituation, or is there a better term? I'm not focusing on group behavior where we are more likely to comply within the herd. I'm looking for the best way to explain the actual process... Obedience to New Social Conditions ..read more

Hey gals and guys, Wanted to join a psychology forum for so long and been putting it off until this morning. Was originally born and raised in the Caribbean, Haiti to be more precise. Been sheltered my entire life and so skateboarding, rock and metal became my therapy. Had a few friends in high school, mostly the rockers and gamers were my tribe. I dealt with depression due to porn addiction, stutter, self-image and other deep personal issues and so I didn't have much experience with women... Hello good people of the world ..read more
