What a fun and interesting Christmas in July? Our hosts did a fabulous job walking us through the decades. Such fond memories as we relived Christmas by decades.. Christmas in the 90’s Crafts and Activities.​ In the lead up to Christmas it was often difficult to keep the kids active every day. Here the school year finished around the 14th of December so the kids were home and already pleading boredom. Arts and crafts were big in the 90’s. . ​ The 90’s did not seem that long ago to me. My 2 children were born in 1988 and 1993 so the 90’s were peak Christmas times for our family. Hard to believe though that we are now talking 30 years since my youngest had her very first Christmas. We lived just north of Chicago for four years and I'd never heard of the Walnut Room. Vic was a very junior enlisted sailor and money was tight so our trips to the Windy City were limited to a couple of bus trips from the base that didn't really give us a chance to explore. I'm not even sure we saw the famous Marshall Field's department store windows. Of course, you had to consult the TV Guide to find out when they would air or keep an eye out for the commercial that would tell you.
