Transitioning from running to strength or vise versa can be a great way to build a wellrounded-athletic body. Being a good runner will most definitely help you when you go to build strength. And strength training can have such a positive effect on your running gait. However, I have worked with many clients whom find themselves lacking the results they had hoped for within their MACROCYCLE. Obviously this can be due to many factors but I have found that almost everyone who struggled – did so because of incorrect MESOCYCLING. As we move thru our Macrocycle it is crucial to fully commit to each s ..read more

With a plethora of gear to choose from for every type of exercise, it can be easily overlooked how integral a fitness watch can be to your results. This is something I learned later in my life but definitely wish I would have utilized a fitness watch years ago. There are so many benefits but I will focus on just a couple features that are must. The first one is HEART RATE – probably the most important feature to look for. And though most watches use modern technology, avoid cheap watches – like those found on Amazon. The monitor tends to be less accurate than with a better brand, like Garmin/P ..read more

One of the biggest mistakes beginner runners make when learning how to run – is not cycling there stride correctly. One of the key factors to a great running cycle is ‘Triple Extension’ and 2 major causes of not getting triple extension is lifting too heavy and not training plyometrics. For anyone wanting to be a better-more proficient runner staying away from traditional lifts like squats, deadlifts and lunges is crucial. Those lifts are counter intuitive to getting better extension. Using bounding is a fantastic way to teach the body how to fully extend while learning ground force transmissi ..read more

Each year people take a break from their day-in-day-out lives in order to reset, recalibrate or just unleash. For some, holidays are a time to indulge and unwind. For others like myself; even though I no longer stay connected with thoughts of what program do I need to build or how many emails I need to answer – I still maintain my scheduled training plan, with a few adjustments of course. For example I don’t hit the gym while on holidays. I do however still get in my #runs My mental and emotional well-being both depend on my physical output. So getting in an easy KVR run or intense trail thru ..read more

The first thing I will say is that your warmup should. Never be the same as the last one. Secondly, if your warmup prepares you incorrectly – it can lead to poor output or worse, injury. When planning a warmup and you most definitely need a good warmup, it’s important to understand what you want out of your workout. If you are on a specific plan such as STRENGTH TRAINING, SPORT CONDITIONING or WEIGHT LOSS then implementing a warmup that is tailored for those things will help you attain your goals. Strength training is the most common form of training for people because of its benefits to a hea ..read more

Over the span of my very blessed career, I have witnessed many people go thru physical transformations; which is amazing. Unfortunately for many of them – the struggle continues and they continue to seek a new and improved fast track way to lose weight. Never really unravelling the truth. It is a bit redundant to say the least but ‘Being willing to see the why is crucial for real change’ cannot be over-looked. One of the hardest parts of personal transformation is to let go of simple physical changes and dig deeper. This requires not only the willingness, it depends on the desire to want real ..read more

Happy humpday. I won’t even ask if you have heard of functional fitness or not. Even if you don’t workout regularly the chance that you haven’t is very slim. And though most concious people are familiar with the term, there seems to be a lot of lost people when it comes to defining ‘Functional Fitness’ – I personally believe that it is a result of the saturation within the fitness industry to use the term – even if what they are selling is anything but optimal. Maybe though, we truly cannot define what it is because it means both everything and nothing at the same time. The word functional mea ..read more
