Hello British Pharmacists! I’m trying to find out how you can break into the pharmaceutical industry as a newly qualified pharmacist but just can’t find ant information. Would love it if someone could shed some light!
Thank you ?

I plan on leaving the company hopefully soon if all things go well. I've been working with a toxic rxm for the past 5 years (main reason why I have been looking for a new job in the first place) and wasn't sure if it was nessary to give a heads up notice to the rxm at all. I do plan on emailing a 2 weeks notice to the DM and don't want the DM to think any less of me when the DM talks to the rxm (I dont want to burn bridges with the DM, but don't really care about the rxm). Would I have to notify anyone else in the chain?? Any input will be appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

And why isn't the DEA all over this? 7 day supply... 300 dollars. Oh look, turns out it's only 10 dollars if it's a 90 day supply. I mean, who cares that the patient has never taken the drug and there is concern for diversion.
I hate the US healthcare system.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone exclusively works with veterinary medicine - as in you only compound or dispense medications for veterinary medications? Did you do any specialized training after your PharmD? Why do you work with veterinary medicine? Would you recommend this field of pharmacy? Any cons?
I work in a small community with a large amount of horse/other pet owners and am trying to get out of corporate pharmacy to build my own thing.
I would appreciate any insight!

So I (float pharmacist) got a call at the pharmacy (Safeway, if youre curious) from a representative claiming they're from X Insurance.
The rep gave pt info (name, DoB, and phone number) .
Then she asked about a past prescription for adderall (brand) and that they need the pharmacy to make a correction on the third party information and retransmit that correction to the insurance. Insuance wants the pharmacy to use DAW 1: Dispense as written, instead of DAW 4: Generic out of stock.
I wasn't involved in the process of that particular prescription (didn't even work at that location prior to thi ..read more

Has anyone tried home infusion like with Option Care? They do TPN and antibiotics for referred patients who were discharged from hospitals or clinics. I'm wondering if that would be a good stepping stone or learning place to move on to other clinical positions at hospitals or outpatient ambcare for retail pharmacists to give up a FT staff position. Pay is like $10/hr less. It only serves a small pt population so it will be hard to move sideways. They require some pharmacists to do sterile compounding from what I know but give a training period. I think most ID learning there will be about man ..read more

I work for a large hospital system, it’s like the CVS of hospital pharmacy. The job is terrible and management is worse. I found a thread from a few years ago about how much notice to give in pharmacy when starting a new job but there was no consensus. Is 2 week notice enough? 3 weeks? 4 weeks? The pharmacy has a revolving door for pharmacist and I want to get out ASAP without burning bridges.

Been working a few years and it feels like healthcare professionals get the shaft everytime a mouse farts in Ottawa. I practice in BC currently, community with some hospital experience. PharmD graduate.
Which state did you choose? How easy is it to move down there and find a job? What aspects of Canadian pharmacy do you miss?

Has anyone taken a break after graduating pharmacy school (for me it was 2 yrs) & felt they didn’t feel intelligent enough to even work in the field? I graduated, started hospital job training, and I feel like I don’t remember anything. I try to study up on material, but still don’t feel smart enough and keep asking myself if I’m even right for this career. Can anyone relate to the feeling?
