Hi guys & gals! I'm working on the aquascape for my new tank and would like some constructive criticism ( dont hold back, im a big boy), cause ive been looking at this for 3 weeks now and need a fresh set of eyes I'm going for an HNSA type scape, i still need to do some detailing and add a couple caves and hidy holes with some rubble. some small islands will also be added. The tank will be viewable from front and right side. I stayed at least 2" away from the sides and for reference the... Read more ..read more

So after seeing the reefbuilders article, I was excited to get some maricultured rock to add more biodiversity to my 6 months old tank. Ordered the 5lb seed kit and got it this morning. I am not sure the rock has actual coralline or just fluorescent paint. Has anyone else ordered this rock ..read more

I found this in NC a few years ago. It’s some kind of clam, but what happened to it? The shell on the right is the closest thing I could find to it but the shell on the left has a more curved end. Is this a fossil or something else ..read more

I put in this live rock and arranged it with the larger pieces in the back, smaller towards the front, and tried to make some places where fish and critters could go, hide, etc.... But I absolutely do not know what I'm doing, so helpful criticism happily accepted ..read more

Hello! I’m currently in the process of switching from a 60 cube to a standard 120 48x2x2. I wanted to keep all my live rock from my cube because it has a ton of coral that are encrusted. I was thinking about building a hnsa style Bommie for the right side of the tank out of dry rock then on the left side of the tank have my old rock in a more traditional stacked structure. Then seperate the two structures with a mini canyon. I can’t find any pictures of this scape with two very different... Read more ..read more

SO Opinions on my first saltwater scape. Please be nice I do have questions though. Sorry for the newbie questions I would rather do it "Right" than have to redo it with fish and coral in the tank. The black tape line represent the area I want to scape which gives me 3-4 inches all the way around for cleaning. View from straight on View looking to the right side View looking to the left side left View from top The islands in... Read more ..read more

Which scape do you like better? Excuse the messy background, didn’t have a lot of room lol The cardboard box on the bottom is the size of the tank, and the white box in the background is the height of the tank. The front right will have an elegance that I have in a different tank Or if you have any suggestions for something different let me know ..read more

How much rock for a "skinny" tank?

Yes, I know. This is one of the most commonly asked questions in the hobby. And I've heard the general "1lb to 1 gallon" ratio. But I don't know if that would work for me, with my tank dimensions. It's a 45 gallon, 36" long, 24" tall, and only 12" wide (approximately, leaving out the decimal points). I'd like to build a scape that makes use of the tank height, but the width isn't a lot to work with. I'm going to have a sand substrate. Is there a better way to calculate how much rock I'll need ..read more
