So I had a planted tank many years ago. I always talked fondly about it to my girlfriend and she wanted to have one. She talked me into a 75gal and even with some light experience with this, I way underestimated the cost. It’s grown in some over a month since we started. You guys/gals let me know what you think. What would you change? What do you like/dislike ..read more

So this is my first time scaping, I just got a 105L/28G tank and went for a heavy planted natural look. The rocks are out of position to weigh my log down until it loses buoyancy. Happy with how its turned out, any advice or tips appreciated wanted to say hi ..read more

I plan on adding an anubias on driftwood where the "X" is, and lastly some floaters (Salvinia Minima or Purple Fringed Floaters). Should I swap the locations of the Banana Plant and Pogostemon? Will the banana plant bounce back? What should I put in the back corner? It will be under floaters.. maybe moss? Will it carpet ..read more

No idea what I’m doing!!!

Most of the previous suggestions were to use driftwood vs stones for this tank. Previously I had 4 grassy hills of different sizes and I removed 2 of the hills to add some driftwood. I used some plastic to prevent the spread of the grass (so if the edges look odd it’s bc I just put it in). Should I have removed the hills in the middle? Is it too late? Should I shove the biggest hill into the far left corner? Thankfully no fish yet so I’m only disturbing the plants. I also have no idea where... No idea what I’m doing ..read more

Hello! I purchased these rocks from a fish store and they were labeled as black lava rock. I want to be sure these are ok for snails and shrimp. I've had them in with my fish for a year and a half. I got 2 shrimp and 2 rabbit snails at the beginning of the year. One shrimp died and the 2 rabbit snails are dying now. They did great for months. The one stone is starting to grow a lime green cover. I also had aquarium co-op root tabs and liquid fertilizer. I took everything out cleaned the... Please help identify these rocks ..read more

I thought I would get some opinions of my first attempt at Aquascaping before I post on my build thread and continue. The interior dimensions of the tank are 83"x29". I have plenty of rock and spider wood for the tank. Any recommendations would be appreciated. This is what I am thinking for the left side of the tank. Structure is 16" high and approx 30" in length. The spider wood in the middle is 3 big pieces. I am grouping them together due... First Attempt at Aquascaping a Planted Tank ..read more

Hello, I am new to the forum and new to aquascaping. I have a garden pond and a saltwater reef aquarium but I now want to start, initially, with a small simple eco system to put in my studio. I have watched various YouTube videos so I have got some idea about aquascaping. What to want to produce is a lusciously planted tank in a 30cm square tank without lighting, filtration and fish (but possibly shrimp). I have seen the tank I want and also some tools but the thing that confuses me at... Where Do I Begin ..read more

Wisteria wood for tank?

I'm a novice aquarist jumping from my 20g with a few plants and gravel substrate to a 50gal with dirt/sand/gravel and heavier plant density. My big question is about wood - I have a 40-year old wisteria, and it's got a big dead piece of wood that's been dead for at least 5 years. I bet it's been longer. This is not a fresh cut - it's been sitting exposed to rain/snow (Utah) for a long time. Can I plop this into my tank and if so, what precautions do I need to take? Edit: freshwater...
