I have some small bare rooted Peace Lilies about 30cm tall that I want to add to a already heavily planted 30cm square tank and 20 and 30cm diameter fish bowls. I understand how they are planted but I'm having trouble thinking of a way to support them. Could I glue them to a rock like you would Anubis and let them sit upright in the water column? Or does anyone have any other suggestions. I do not have the room to add other supports like wood roots without disturbing the existing plants ..read more

Planting Technique Advice

I have recently started aquascaping and need some advice. When planting in the substrate I have followed the techniques as seen in many videos but it never seems to work for me. I have tried both straight and angled aquascaping tweezers but I can't get what I am planting to say in position. Most times the plant seems to catch on the tweezers and is pulled out as I withdraw the tweezers or the plant just floats to the top although I have tried to push it deep in to the substrate. At the... Read more ..read more

Tearing the 30 gallon SA inspired tank down

I currently have my 30 gallon set up as a South American inspired scape (see the attach photo). It’s a sand capped dirted tank that has been my first true introduction to a planted aquascape. I’ve honestly hated it since the day I set it up, it’s never looked right to me and now I’m dealing with some algae issues that I can’t get under control no matter what I’ve done that I believe has to do with the potting soil leeching something. Anyways in a couple of months once I come back from a... Read more ..read more

I am new to the hobby and have just set up a 30cm square low tech tank. The tank at the moment is a plants only tank but that may change in the future. The tank as I said, is low tech with no filter, heater or light. I completed the planting last Tuesday 21st May. No liquid fertilizer/CO2 has been added yet. Please can someone recommend how long I should leave the tank to settle before I make a water change and what percentage of water should I remove ..read more

Hi all. I have set up a 20 litre Dennerle Cube a month a go to save some cuttings from the bin. Its been great fun and allowed me to use it as a test tant. So far full of red stems and crypts and two Clinthon Snails to keep things going! Anyway today i wanted to remind myself not to be precious about the tank i purchased a Cryptocoryne Spiralis Red to put in the corner. If it likes the environment and does well, maybe i will use the tank for Anubius as i am sure a lot of the light will be... Read more ..read more

Hiya I recently decided to try another tank but try and aquascape it properly or just the inclusion of more hardscape, since before I have mainly been growing almost dutch style tanks as a way to learn plant health and maintenance, this tank is a dennerle scapers 35l with a twinstar light. I am hoping to grow red rotala as before I had only been using fluval lights and could not achieve full red in rotala h'ra, i could only achieve a almost orange colour with hues of red. this... Question: Do people buy / sell tanks with a completed scape?

Do people buy / sell tanks with a completed scape? I’m referring to tanks that have well grown in, established and matured planting. I’m approaching the point of my tank where I am considering something bigger but do not like the idea of stripping down. Additionally, when I see some tanks being re scaped, I have thought to myself… I would have totally bought that. Just wondered what people think about this ..read more

I know people have done this with Monte carlo but has there been any success doing this with dwarf baby tears or can I only grow in the substrate? In this context I'm talking about growing them on lava rocks underwater instead of above water. Sent from my SM-S918B using Tapatalk ..read more

I am in the beginning stages of planning my next scape. It will be a Dutch inspired scape for my 10 gallon tank. I don’t know if I want to go completely Dutch or if I want to use some of the aspects along with some hardscape. Does anyone have a Dutch scape that they are willing to share? What equipment are you using? Thanks Scott ..read more

I'm on a tank and filter cleaning mission. Do you have a brush or something else that does it all? I don't have Lily Pipes, but stock Oase inlet/ outlet and those things get really gunky inside! I discovered this weekend that the Inline Taps on my filter hoses get really dirty as well. God I sound like a clean freak. I am not I assure you! Anyone tried those mini bottle brushes from Amazon ..read more
