Has anyone used the siphonless Big Mouth Bubbler for secondary fermentation or heard of anyone using it?
To me, it seems like it would be cleaner, easier, and more convenient to use but was specifically wondering if anyone has ever had issues with the yeast cake on the bottom getting sucked up during the bottling process ..read more

Hi, I am a beginner, I am good at brewing wine so far, but I never done fining. I am researching chitosan only, not kieseksol, and I was wondering if there are different types of chitosan. What I came across was a food-grade water purifier, is it possible to use it to clear my cloudy wine? Thanks ..read more

I have moved my office onto my wife's GGGG farm that has been in Bellevue since early 1800's. My mother in law told me that back in the early 1800's they started a winery called Bellevue Wines for several years. Pops had always told me it was really good and somewhere on the property was the original vine that they left, the first one. Well, after getting rid of the black berry bushes I discovered it...
My question...is it dead? I want to revive it and am freaking out ..read more

Hey everyone,
I would like some comments on what you all think. I am considering making a raisin wine and using brown sugar, a bit of lemon and or orange, black walnuts (for flavor) and maybe dark toasted oats(instead of oak). I was making breakfast today and I was thinking hmm I wonder if my Breakfast wine would be a hit? Mabey throw a cinnamon stick in after primary fermentation ..read more

Hallo fellow winemakers . Getting ready for lunch and wanted a glass wine to go with it. Spotted my elderberry wine I made in 2020 and almost forgot about. I tasted it in its first year and frankly almond spat it out. Needs more time i said to myself. So i opened one today and let me tell you what a difference. Much more drinkable, some delicate flavors I'm having difficulty describing. You that have made it before what is your impression? Would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Hi
I'm making a wine kit wine.
My house wasn't very warm so the 7 days turned into a month before it stopped bubbling.
I transferred it into demijohns for another two weeks and it was really clear

Then I realized I hadn't added the flavor thing and so did that and added the first finings and stirred vigorously as instructed.
My wine went cloudy.I added the other thing after 3 hours and the second finings after an hour.
It's my wine going to be ok??
It actually tasted pretty good...

I have space to make more wine. However, I don’t have enough space that’s temp-controlled.
My garage and shed often exceed 90 degrees in the summer. I get around this by removing the bottom drawers from my wine fridge and storing a carboy there. That solution fits 1 carboy.
I’d like to DIY something that could hold 1-3 additional carboys with temp control, regulated with an Inkbird to 65 degrees.
I could purchase another wine fridge, but they generally only fit 1 carboy and easily cost...

Hey all. I’ve got some leaf discoloration on my Regent vines that I’m wondering about. I’ve reached out to my local extension specialist but I’m wondering if those here have experience.
As you can see, they are late bloomers. I’m guessing either frost damage or mildew. It’s only on a couple buds on the side of this vine that gets the least amount of sun. We did recently have a cool (but not frosty) spell with lots of rain last week ..read more
