by kelann08 You still have to play the objectives. Very few ranged units should be able to just park behind cover and shoot indiscriminately, especially with only range 2 or 3 on a 6' x 3' table. Moving melee is about using cover and going after the right targets - preferably those close enough that you don't need to go across the entire table to reach them. Use being in combat to protect yourself from ranged attcks ..read more

by mrebiv It's been awhile since I've played, But if I remember correctly, the melee units I think are better at blocking / dodging (making them harder to hit with a ranged attack), and can often move faster than ranged units. So the individual stats of a unit will determine how they fare against another unit. Movement is an aspect of the game in general, it is about tactical positioning, trying to maneuver to an objective while engaging with the enemy. It can actually be quite fun, and plays fairly quickly (compared to some other games ..read more

by TenEyedMan I bought a medium-sized collection of Legion during covid lockdown, mostly to paint (and to find out that I hate assembling miniatures). I got the game on a table a couple of times, playing both sides, just to see how the game worked. I dig some parts of it, but it felt really static to me, with ranged characters wanting to just find cover and stick with it, while melee characters get shot a lot trying to get over to them. Obviously my lack of experience is a big factor here, but just looking at the lengths of the movement tool versus the range tool, it seems like the game prett ..read more

by Scarbuck I second everything Donny said. Try a few games using the standard rules 1v1, so you get a feel how everything works. Then you'll be in a position to know what you need to do to bring in that third player, either on one side, or in an everyman-for-himself battle. if you have a good story for it, you'll all have more fun ..read more

by kelann08 It's not supported by the official rules, but like any game you can play how you want, just don't expect there to be anything official for it. I imagine the most common paths would be a 3 v 3 free for all or a game of 2 v 1 where the two players combined forces equal the value of the one player ..read more

by Phuntom I’ve played a number of these kinds of games and they are now my preferred way to play Legion. Both players have their own deck, leaders, and 600 points to build an army. You total the pips on each players command card to determine priority. Players may see each others cards and strategize, they may not use their cards to command the other team members units however ..read more

Thread: Star Wars: Legion:: General:: Using 'flowers' tufts to designate squad leaders and other key personnel

by hismhs Hi all, Have begun basing my school wargaming group's SW Legion figures, using 'All Game Terrain' (natural gravel). Looks nice! However, for quicker recognition, I think it would be handy to designate key figures like squad leaders with tufts of coloured flowers. Are there any universally accepted schemes (NATO?) that designate certain colours for certain ranks or weapon systems, etc.? If not, I was thinking PURPLE for leaders, BLUE for operatives, YELLOW for squad leaders, RED for heavy weapons and MULTI for specialists (medics, comms, droids, etc.). Thanks in advance for any advice ..read more
