All - I'm new to Deer Hunter Forum and thought I'd kick off my first post asking if anyone is familiar with a website called "Outdoor Access" (Outdooraccess.com)? They apparently act as a go between like Air B&B for hunters to use private property to hunt on (Camping, fishing, etc). Supposedly you sign up, become a member and use their site to locate properties that offer 1-day, weekend, weeklong, or leases to properties that will allow you to hunt (camp, fish, etc) for a fee much like Air... What's your favorite habitat tool that you can't live without (planting, cutting, spraying, whatever)? If you have several I'd love to check them all out. I want to be using the best tools for the job and I guarantee some of you guys have some efficient tools from experience. Let's list some keepers......I'll start with a Stihl chainsaw purchased this year.......it saved tons of time over the old cheap chainsaws that I used in the past ..read more

As most are aware, my beloved JRT Sarge had to be euthanized last fall. I was dogless until about Christmas, had said I wasn’t getting another, but I couldn’t stand it. I got Molly from a guy on Texas Bowhunter who has a great reputation for breeding JRTs. She’s been a hard headed little cuss, but she’s getting better all the time. She’s got a great nose, as all JRTs do, and I can’t wait to start training her. We are saving blood each time we thaw out deer meat, and (if... Read more ..read more

I look forward to the day when some of my persimmons that I have topworked start to bear, but in the meantime there is no shortage, thanks to both some seedlings I set about 12-13 years ago and some volunteer females. I took some pictures today of a few different trees and love the variability of the ripening time we have. Some are ripening right now and others are still very green and won't be ripe until after the first frost. This is a nice female that is ripening right now. Many of... Read more ..read more

We’ve obviously been fighting drought, which you all know I’ve documented quite well lol. Is this oak doing okay? Its leaves look a little different than the others. I didn’t label these oaks, so I’m not sure which variety it is ..read more

Sun Scald on Older Tree?
Deer Hunter Forum
by KSQ2

This silver/red hybrid maple in my folks yard appears to have gotten a strong dose of sun scald this past winter. Am I right on this diagnosis? If so, at what point is a tree no longer in danger? I would have thought a tree this big would not have been susceptible. It is now fully leafed out btw ..read more
