My Origami method for woven designs

Have you seen yourself in any of the following situations? FIRST SITUATION You want to make a nice blanket from 4×4″ pin loom woven squares. You know that you need a lot of squares, so you get busy and settle into weaving pieces without stopping on your 4×4″ pin loom (Zoom Loom, Weave-It, PerfectCouple, etc). You have so much fun, it’s something mechanical, you don’t need to think much. In fact it is quite easy and relaxed. You can weave while having a conversation, waiting at the doctor´s office, or while watching your child’s soccer game, etc. After storing many woven pieces, you decide to s ..read more

Make garments from Woven Squares

Almost 15 years ago I joined 3 pin loom woven squares and made a sweater! I already knew how to crochet, I had made several clothes, so I could understand its constructive logic: crocheting the body shape. So joining woven squares, without thinking much about how they would wrap around the body (plus increase and/or decreasing stitches), and suddenly making a garment, seemed to be the most fantastic (and perhaps dummiest) technique in the world! And that’s how I ventured to build several square looms, in various sizes. Then rectangles, also triangles. I wove many many pieces and then, when ..read more

Tejía muchísimas piezas y luego, cuando me cansaba, ju ..read more

If you are addicted to bias weave squares, the design that I bring today is perfect for you! I saw it browsing Pinterest a few weeks ago. It is a Christmas tree for the front door, made of different fabrics. I saw it and thought “it would look 100 times better with pin loom woven squares”! I hope that when you finish reading this post, you think the same My version was made using only woven squares, but there is an important detail… they are all different sizes, to imitate the example I saw. To make it, I used the Kayu multi loom from my store, which includes 6 sizes of squares (among othe ..read more

Small and Large Christmas Patterns

In a previous blog post, I explained how to “enlarge” 4×4″ size patterns on the Zoom Loom or Weave-It loom. On both looms the pins or nails are arranged in trios, so they are woven in a particular way. But it is enough to take into consideration that there are 31 vertical rows of warp and then 31 horizontal rows of weft to transfer any pattern from those pin looms to larger square pin looms, in which the nails or pins are equidistant. Check out these Blog posts to learn in detail how to transfer 4×4″ patterns to larger looms: >> Read Part 1 about how to enlarge 4×4″ patterns. >> Re ..read more

>> Lee la Parte 1 d ..read more

Diving into the trunk of memories a few days ago I came across the picture of the first textile design contest in which I was selected. I don’t even want to remember how many years ago it was (13, 14?). I was a complete lola (young lady), as my grandmother would have said. The important thing is that it made me remember so many adventures that are experienced in the daily challenge of entrepreneurship. So many, so many, that I had forgotten this single one! It was in the Crea contest (2010), organized by Sercotec, a Chilean government organization that promotes entrepreneurship. I presented tw ..read more
