You’ve just found your new favourite dish. The lentil recipe you never knew you needed. Dal Makhani is, without a doubt, the quintessential North Indian celebration food. Makhani, a Hindi word meaning ‘butter’, tells you everything you need to know: this dish is cooked with copious amounts of rich butter, making it an indulgence that’s too good to miss.
Lentils, or dal, as they are called in India, make up an important part of the daily Indian diet. Dal Tadka, One Pot Masoor Dal, and Palak Dal are common homely comfort foods. On the other hand, Dal Makhani served with a good fluffy naan is a c ..read more

Ramen Noodles. Who doesn’t love them? If you’re anything like me, you’ll have countless memories of eating ramen noodles – at a friends house while you watch Back to the Future for the 5th time (just me?!), as comfort food when you’re too exhausted to cook, or perhaps when there’s just no food left to eat. There’s a lot of different ways to elevate instant ramen noodles – but this Garlic Chilli Oil Noodles with Zucchini is my favourite. It’s ready in less than 15 minutes, and you’ll never be eating plain ramen again.
Intensely fiery hot chili oil. Soft and chewy ramen noodles. Fresh and juicy ..read more

It’s no secret that I’ve been obsessed with pasta lately. From Orecchiette with Cavolo Nero (which I’ve been eating every week!) to Spaghetti alla Puttanesca, it seems like there’s a pasta dish for every occasion, time of day, and mood! Spaghetti Aglio e Olio, though, is something that every cook should know how to make. It’s the backbone of rustic Italian home cooking. Ready in less than 15 minutes. Uses only 5 ingredients. And most importantly – tastes delicious.
This recipe exemplifies what Italy does really well: taking the most basic ingredients and turning them into something exceptional ..read more

Garlic … and Fries. Need I say anymore? Two of my favourite things on the whole planet combined! These Garlic Fries are crispy, salty, spicy, herby, fluffy, garlicky bites of absolute addictiveness. They’re loaded with spicy, aromatic garlic and fresh, bright parsley.
In the UK we’re known for our chips (we call fries “chips”), which we typically eat with Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas. Every city, town & village has a dozen small and locally owned fish and chip shops. Better yet, because my hometown is by the seaside, there’s a chip shop literally 30 seconds from my house! Compared to America ..read more

The first time that my Mother tried this Orecchiette Pasta with Cavolo Nero, she eagerly declared that it was the “one of the best pasta dishes she’d ever tasted”, and her “new favourite pasta”. Trust me when I say my Mother is a harsh critique and a pasta aficionado! This is the only pasta dish that has ever gotten such praise (my Spaghetti Aglio e Olio and Asparagus Lemon Pasta are envious!), but I have to agree with Mum – this pasta dish is really something special.
It’s tender, chewy, garlicy, spicy, earthy, rich, zesty, crispy. All in one bite. Orecchiette pasta is equal amounts tender an ..read more

Crepes – there’s something so romantic and so summery about the thought of them, isn’t there? I had my first proper French crepe in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was simple perfection: a squeeze of lemon and a dusting of sugar. I savoured each bite of that crepe as if I was my last. Now, so many years later, I’ve been inspired by the same simple flavours and the French romance of summer to create my own version of Strawberry Crepes!
These crepes have the same simplicity at their core. Three simple ingredients create a rich, velvety, light, buttery crepe that is as good as any you’ll f ..read more

I don’t think I’d be alone in saying that Italian cuisine is one of my all time favourites. Unfortunately, Italian street food often gets forgotten. There are some true gems to be found from the Friggitoria (shops selling fried food) lining the small cobbled streets – like Vegan Mushroom Arancini.
These vegan, nut free & soy free Mushroom Arancini are equal amounts umami, crunchy, crispy and creamy – everything you could want in a snack! Mushroom risotto is cooked until thick and velvety, made into balls, and rolled in sourdough breadcrumbs. The arancini balls are then fried or baked until ..read more

This easy and scrumptious recipe for Vegetable Chow Mein is sure to become your new favourite midweek meal. It’s not only quicker, tastier, healthier, and cheaper than your average takeaway – as a bonus, it’s also Vegan!
We’ll take a medley of fresh vegetables, cook them until tender but a little crunchy, and then stir fry them with crispy noodles and a delectably savoury sauce. The sauce is simple: beautifully rich light and dark soy sauce; vegetarian oyster sauce packed with umami; and sugar, to add a subtle lift to the other ingredients. Finally, a little dash of sesame oil at the end is al ..read more

Meet your new favourite Vegan main dish: Asparagus Risotto. It’s creamy, decadent, fresh, zesty, and nutty. It’s everything you could ever want in a risotto.
Leeks, celery and garlic are fried in olive oil until aromatic and golden. Next, risotto rice is added to the pan and toasted until crunchy and nutty. Flavoursome broth is stirred in little by little, cooking the rice to make a creamy, velvety base. But we’re not done yet – the highlight of this recipe is the gorgeous asparagus puree which we’ll add right at the end for a vibrancy of flavour and colour. The tips of the asparagus are fried ..read more

Have you had too many bad experiences with Onion Bhajis? Too greasy, too bland, not cooked on the inside? Unfortunately, onion bhajis from takeaways or restaurants can often be a let-down. However, when they’re cooked correctly, they’re so good that you’ll just keep coming back for more! My recipe will teach you how to make flavoursome, crispy and spicy onion bhaji that will finishing the whole batch and wanting more – every single time!
Thin slices of sweet and mild onion are spiced with crushed ajwain, earthy golden turmeric, fiery green chillis, citrusy coriander and a hint of asafoetida to ..read more
