I finally got around to solving my blogger issue. I had been posting on Facebook since April 1, 2024 but never really liked using it for blogging. Now that I have got Blogger working again I am in the process of moving my old blogs from Facebook over to blogger. My blog can be found at http://zeetraveler.blogspot.com As of now I have posted blogs from April 5th 2024 to mid July 2024. Since it is relatively easy to move the blogs I will continue to do so until I catch up. Now I just hope there are some people left on my old blog that will find it! I will continue to post on Facebook as well.

With our new levelers installed it was time to start making our way to North Carolina to see our daughter and her family. Our first stop was not very far away as we only traveled about 80 MI to Johnny Appleseed Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Little did we know until we arrived this is where the man known as Johnny Appleseed, John Chapman, was buried. If you don't know the story, read about it on one of the attached photos as it's kind of interesting.
Since the weather was nice, we spent two days at Johnny Appleseed Park and on the second day we did a nice hike in a very beautiful tall grass p ..read more

We sure had fun in Iowa but it became time to hit the road. A short drive of 77 MI took us to Fisherman's Corner Recreation Area, a Corps of Engineers Park in Moline, Illinois.
We were only there only a few days but we found some good hikes and a fun round of disc golf. However, the highlight of the trip was meeting up with our friends. Cathy and Craig whom we first met at Imperial Bonita Estates RV Resort in Bonita Springs, Florida. As it always seems to be the case it was as if we had never been away from Florida. While it had been many years since we saw them last, we picked up right wher ..read more

As morning rolled around, we packed up our rig and hit the road. Since we're a little behind schedule due to the mechanical issues, we quickly headed 109 miles east to Menlo, Iowa, a tiny little farming town. We only spent one night in Menlo City Park and didn't do anything other than take a small drive around the town.
However, upon setting up while we were putting our large living room slide out, I heard a shear pin break right as it was fully extended. I went to a True Value store in a nearby town to buy a bolt to hold me over until I could find a more proper bolt to serve as a shear pin ..read more

Our next stop would be another short drive of only 75 MI. We pulled into Walnut Creek Lake Recreation area in the city of Papillion Nebraska and set up camp. This park is a beautiful first-come first-serve park with concrete pads and some sites with 50 amp service. We were lucky to grab the last 50 amp site the day we arrived. There was no water or sewer connection at the site.
After we set up camp, I decided to check all the fluids in the RV which I do routinely. Noticing the brake fluid was low. I added a little bit of 3-Dot brake fluid and made a note to keep an eye on it.

Travel Day! Next stop would be Tuxedo Park and Camping in Crete Nebraska, just south of Lincoln. Our drive was 132 miles and thankfully it was uneventful.
Tuxedo Park is a small-town park in Crete that has 20 hookup sites, 10 with 50 amp and 10 with 30 amp all for only $20 per night. None of the sites have water or sewer so you'll want to get some water before settling in. The park itself is heavily wooded and rather scenic as it abuts the Big Blue River which was right behind our RV. We were the only ones there during our stay however the park is frequented by locals mostly for using the pla ..read more

Travel day came again and our next planned stop would be at a lake where we'd be camping in Methodist Cove campground near Alma Nebraska. It was a really short 48 Mile uneventful drive which was nice!
Methodist Cove is another Corps of Engineers campground and as such the sites were huge. This beautiful Park is shaded by lots of trees and within view of a large lake. We love the COE parks because we can use our America the Beautiful pass and receive ½ off camping rates. Great sites, great rates!
We were only there for two nights and with it being out in the middle of nowhere we pretty much s ..read more

It sure was a pleasure to pull into a campground adjacent to a large lake, especially after driving through the plains of Kansas. As we pulled into Prairie Dog State Park we were treated to a scenic park with views of the large Reservoir.
We reserved a full hookup site with a concrete pad up on a ridge overlooking the lake. We felt sure it would be a great place to spend a few days. There was something else of interest to us at Prairie Dog State Park. Yes, it was the Prairie Dogs themselves and we were hopeful also to view a particular species living amongst them.
Prairie Dogs are known as ..read more

When we woke up in Raton, New Mexico, we checked the weather. Because of the forecast for storms we decided it was time to go. Our plan was to drive about 150 mi to John Martin Reservoir State Park near Las Animas, Colorado.
The Eastern side of Colorado is a stark contrast to the mountainous western side. We saw nothing but rolling planes and grasslands all around us. The campground at John Martin Reservoir was very pleasant with lots of shade trees and sweeping views of the lake. We enjoyed a walk around the lake as there was not much else to see in the area.
We once again cut this stay shor ..read more

When we arrived in Raton New Mexico, we settled in early enough to have time to enjoy the rest of the day. The rainy weather forecasted apparently (and thankfully) missed us.
Given this opportunity we drove our car up to Sugarite Canyon State Park. The park is in a beautiful part of the mountains outside of Raton, New Mexico. There are two lakes in the park, Lake Alice and Lake Maloya.
We didn't commit to a hike since it was still looking like it was going to rain. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the short strolls by the lake and loved seeing a variety of birds.
We drove back to camp and checked the ..read more
