A cryptocurrency wallet is an app or device that people use for storing and transacting with cryptocurrencies like bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), and beyond.  The cryptoeconomy has matured to the point that there are now a wide range of different wallets for crypto holders to choose from. These wallets come in different shapes and sizes, both figuratively and sometimes literally, and they optimize for different things.  Indeed, some wallets focus on convenience via software-based mobile apps. Others emphasize privacy features. Others yet hone in on providing users with high security gua ..read more

First ideated by Vitalik Buterin in 2017 and then pioneered in production by Uniswap in 2018, automated market makers (AMMs) mark the latest great vault forward in the evolution of spot trading markets.  Why? These systems, which underpin DeFi’s rising wave of decentralized exchanges (DEXes), are open and efficient for anyone with a crypto wallet and thus democratize access to trading and market making in ways the world’s never seen before.  Related: Why Invest in an Index? Yet beyond opening up spot markets to anyone, anywhere, and anytime, AMMs represent the next step forward in th ..read more

A cryptocurrency wallet is a type of tool used to store and transact with top cryptocurrencies like bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH).  Cryptocurrency wallets are also used to collect non-fungible tokens (NFTs), like art, digital collectibles, and virtual land.  Accordingly, a crypto wallet is home for your crypto and NFTs. These applications or devices can be set up such that only you or ones close to you can access your digital assets.  How does a crypto wallet work In a certain sense, a crypto wallet doesn’t literally “store” cryptocurrency or NFTs.  Instead, a wallet provid ..read more

Top DeFi derivatives projects on L2s
DeFi Pulse Blog

Decentralized derivatives first came to being on Ethereum. Ethereum, of course, is the first mover smart contract platform that remains home to the vast majority of decentralized application (dapps) activity today. Yet for these derivatives projects to flourish going forward will require them to “move up a layer,” so to speak. This means they’ll have to migrate their operations to Ethereum’s layer-two scaling solutions.  This is because the rise of DeFi and NFTs over the past couple of years has led to an incredible demand surge for Ethereum blockspace. The result has been Ethereum gas pr ..read more

Rollups, Validiums and Volitions: Learn About the Hottest Ethereum Scaling Solutions
DeFi Pulse Blog

While side chains as a concept are relatively easy to digest, other scaling solutions can be conceptually difficult. Today we’ll be breaking down some popular scaling technology, including rollups, validiums and volitions. These topics are understandably complex, so it’s best to think of them in terms of the tradeoffs each solution provides. In this case, the tradeoffs are generally security, cost, efficiency, privacy, and trust. To start, let’s define what each of those mean in the context of a scalability solution: Security Security, in this context, can be defined as the cost to ‘fool the s ..read more
