Recently got back from an incredible 19 days in Japan. I’m really feeling the post-Japan blues now, but writing about the trip and sharing what I learned feels like a nice way to honour the memories I made. I (35M) travelled to Japan with my partner (41M) from Canada. We were there from March 26 to April 13 - these dates were “chosen” for us because we were attending a wedding in Tokyo. We got to wear hakamas, walk in the procession at Meiji Jingu, and observe a Shinto wedding ceremony first-hand. We did the Golden Route + Kanazawa, however, many travelers have already written about this rout ..read more

15 Days in Tokyo - Overkill?

Greetings, Last year I took my first trip to Japan and spent a little over two weeks traveling around Hokkaido, it was an unforgettable experience and I don't regret it as a first time trip to Japan. Next year I want to go back for Tokyo, and I'm wondering if two weeks in Tokyo would be overkill? I haven't been to Kyoto, Osaka, etc. but I would rather do that in a later trip. Basically, I'd rather split my trips up into different regions so that I don't have to rush to jam in everything in a two week period. I'm thinking exploring Tokyo for two weeks would scratch my itch so that when I event ..read more

Hey, i'm going in Japan this summer in the end of july and I want to go to a Teamlabs in Tôkyô. But between Planets and Borderless i dont know which one to choose. Both seems great but i don't know which one to choose. The planets one is temporary so maybe its more interesting to see this one. Do you have a preference for one? submitted by /u/Zyglu [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello We're planning just under 3 weeks in Kyushu and Okinawa. I would appreciate any advice on whether our itinerary below sounds feasible, and any recommendations you may make. We are travelling for our honeymoon. Our priorities are beautiful scenery, amazing food, a fairly relaxed trip experiencing rural Kyushu. We have a few days in Fukuoka at the start of the trip to acclimatise, but generally are not too interested in cities. We plan to rent a car for the Kyushu main island and Yakushima parts of the trip. We had considered Ishigaki instead of Zamami; however, as we need to fly to Manil ..read more

Hey everyone. I've been lurking on here for a while and I'm finally going. I was looking for some advice for the tail end of my trip. My partner and I are market gardeners from Europe and Japan is at the forefront of market gardening in terms of techniques and equipment. We'd love to visit and learn from local small scale growers but I'm struggling to find anything. Below is my loose itinerary and there's 2, maybe 3 days there that I could fit something in. By any chance would anyone know anywhere somewhere probably between Kyoto and Tokyo that we could stop and visit. Our current itinerary i ..read more
