Redpath (Australia) Holdings Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Redpath Mining Inc., has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire RUC Mining Contractors Pty Ltd. Pending regulatory approvals, it is expected that the acquisition will be completed and for RUC to officially become part of Redpath by June 2024. Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) recently reported that its electric excavator has reached the significant milestone of 1 million metric tons (mt) moved since it became operational. Now operating at full-speed, FMG said its performance continues to steadily improve with the excavator at times performing better than its diesel equivalent. Alamos Gold Inc. said it will acquire Argonaut Gold Inc. in an all-share transaction valued at $276 million. As part of the transaction, Alamos will acquire Argonaut’s Magino mine, located adjacent to its Island Gold mine in Ontario, Canada. Starting May 1, Epiroc will split its Tools & Attachments division into two divisions, Rock Drilling Tools and Mining & Infrastructure Attachments. Business for the division has expanded and it will become significantly larger after the acquisition of STANLEY Infrastructure is completed. Sibanye-Stillwater Reports Shaft Incident at Its Rustenburg Operations

Sibanye-Stillwater reported that production from the Siphumelele shaft has been suspended due to damage to the shaft’s surface infrastructure that occurred on February 29, 2024. An ore collector bin attached to the shaft headgear sheared off and fell to the ground, damaging the ore conveyor system on the surface. There were no injuries because of the incident, but the damage to the ore collector bin and the collapse of the conveyor system prevents regular production activities. Metso has been awarded an order to deliver solvent extraction technology for a nickel plant in China. The company said the value for this type of order is usually in the range of $16-$22 million. Metso’s scope of delivery consists of the VSF X solvent extraction process to produce a battery-grade nickel sulphate solution.
