I have a the 25”bar on it now. I’m having trouble with it cutting straight and the bar is a little sloppy even with a new chain. I’m going to work on the bar but, I’m thinking about buying a new one. It would be nice to have a backup. Anyone try the Forester or Carlton brand or is there another to consider? Also, I haven’t needed a longer bar and it cuts nice in its stock form. I am trying recreational tree climbing. I can get a rope into a tree, set a base or canopy anchor, SRT ascend up, changeover*, and abseil back down, but nothing more. I want to take the next steps. I have watched a lot of arborist and rec videos to get the lay of the land.
* I am using rock and cave gear for primary ascension to keep this in common with other roped exploration. I am also not prepared for the expense of a saddle or mechanical at this time. If I continue tree climbing I...

Hey,
Ive read a few threads comparing the Mini skids and others comparing the front end mini loaders. However i have yet to see a discussion regarding the compact farm tractors thrown into the mix.
Our family business is based in eastern Canada where tree size / wood volume per job is not quite as much compared to the west coast. Average trees will grow up-to 80' with a crown radius of 40' (Similar to Mass / Maine). Now there is certainly a demand (my lower back) to increase wood / brush...

I was asked to deadwood a mature red oak and already had concerns about what seemed to be significant die back I could see from the ground. In the tree I found that some larger branches and possibly whole stems were dead or dying back. There are no known cases of Oak wilt in Maine, but there is definitely a lot of fungal activity on the tree (though possibly secondary?).
