I work as a repair technician in a store for a major canadian phone carrier and I've recently been given a demonstrator model of the LG Velvet 5G. Being a demo model it does not have a modem in it so it can't connect to cellular networks. I still intend to use it primarily as a media consumption device at home. This is maddening. Happens several times a day, sometimes several times an hour. The wifi remains connected with a strong signal, but there is no Internet connectivity. I use the app Network Info II to check the connection and it can't obtain external IP or hostname. It usually starts working again if I toggle wifi off/on or wait a few minutes, but this is getting ridiculous. It's on 5GHz signal and only a few feet away from the router/AP, so interference is unlikely. Other devices on the same network are unaffected, it's just this dumb smartphone. Recently I had an issue with Google Photos (dumbest app ever, do not recommend) in which it deleted ALL of my camera roll to clear up space. Then when I went to redownload everything off of the google photos website, my images just disappeared. Not in my gallery. Not on the website. Gone. After doing some digging I found that they did download a big folder somewhere to my storage, but I don't know where. It doesn't show up in downloads or recent files, and when I search the file name, it says nothing can be found. I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I am hoping that at the very least you all might be able to point me in a better direction. I recently switched to T-mobile (from sprint). Since then I have been unable to send group messages or pictures to certain people in my contacts. I have also had some issues with tethering where I can set up a hotspot but only if I am on a call with someone.
