I purchased my first 10/22 yesterday and my girlfriend and I took it to the range today. I let her run the first mag through it and on the 3rd shot the round exploded and the mag ejected itself. (She is fine thankfully, just some hot gas to her hand and face and no real injuries) Checked the target to be sure there wasnt a squib, 3 shots on target. Attempted to load another round and could not. Didnt look like there was any obstruction and a couple of the employees there looked and said the same thing. Hey all, I bought a Ruger 556 during the pandemic to have an extra AR when things were hard to come by. I cleaned it and did a weapons check and stuck it in the safe where it’s been sitting these last few years. I decided to take it to the range after always joking “I need to shoot this thing, watch it not even work”. Well today I learned it really doesn’t work lol. Living in Mass, the Samson a-tm folding stock for the mini-14 is 100% illegal due to the combined pistol grip/folding stock/removable Mag. The easiest way I can see to get around the issue is to pin the folding stock.
