Finally got the Charger completed!  This is the 1/16th Petty Charger kit from MPC painted to represent the Neil Bonnett entry in the 1977 Firecracker 400.  The model is built box stock with nothing added from the aftermarket.  Some of the build was posted in the WIP section so I won't bore you with the details.  The car went together fairly well, the fit of most of the parts was pretty good, there was just a ton of flash and sink marks that had to be dealt with.  Overall I'm happy with the results and was really pleased with the Powerslide decals.  If anyone needs ..read more

Started with a Revell ProModeler 1969 Daytona Charger kit. Some plastic tubing for rollcage and "K" member, PPP wheels and tires, Tamiya spray paints, Powerslide Decals and alot of work. Some things I would do alittle differently bit, overall happy with the results. I have included some pictures with my stock Daytona Charger for comparison.  This is Bobby's 1979 Daytona 500 car that he finished 3rd on I believe.   ..read more

1996 'Cartoon Network Scooby Doo' Chevy Monte Carlo

I pulled this 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo out of the storage box and finished it, after having put it out of service about 20 years ago. The car has a bold 'Cartoon Network Scooby Doo' paint scheme and the driver is Robert Presley. When I took it out of the storage box, the body was dirty with dust, but I waxed it to remove the dust, polished it with compound, and sprayed it clear again, and it cleaned up surprisingly well. The window parts had not yet been installed at the time I stopped production, but I was able to find the parts in the storage box, and the body was successfully completed this t ..read more

To continue my builds of these annual molds AMT butchered in the '70s I give you the final one I've completed, the 1965 Oldsmobile 88. This along with two others, was built soon after September 11, 2001. It's one of those things that sticks with with you. I built these in quick succession and then other things happened and I never built the others. I still have the rest and would like to finish all of them. Anyways, I tried to duplicate the box art. When I pulled this one out of storage I noticed the decal's carrier film had yellowed. The other ones have yellowed ..read more

1/16 Scale K & K Dodge Daytona

I built this back in 1986 using a Dukes Of Hazzard kit I found at a local K-Mart , I also bought a couple of cans of Testors spray paint and several small bottles of Testors enamel .  With no other supplies available I ended up using balsa wood for the nose and wing and to fill the rear window , everything else was done just using stuff I had around the house . Back in '86 there were no aftermarket decals available so everything was hand painted . . . something I couldn't possibly do today . On Nov . 24 , 1970 Isaac set a 1 lap record of 201.104 during a test at Talladega with this c ..read more

This time I built the 1983 Buick Regal, sponsored by Skoal Bandit and driven by "Handsome Harry" - Harry Gant. The base kit is the “1981 Buick Regal Charlotte Winner” by Salvinos JR Models, but the original kit was released by Monogram in 1983 as the first 1/24 scale NASCAR kit. As usual, decals were ordered from “Mike's Decals”. I purchased “#33 Skoal Harry Gant 1982-83 Buick” from Powerslide. This time, I added more details than usual. 1. Body:   I added detail up of the fuel tank and oil tank, and piping so that the trunk lid can be opened and closed. 2. Chassis:   The chassis is ..read more

Kyle Petty Mello Yello AMT Kit.

Controversially, I’ve always had an affinity for these old AMT NASCAR kits. Not as good as the Revell/Monogram kits, but I actually think these Pontiac bodies are closer to the real car than the Monogram kits were. Completely box stock other than a seatbelt decal. Even used the kit tire decals. These old AMT decals hold up well, you just have to work slowly and be patient with them.  ..read more
