Can my(f17) boyfriend(m17) get charged for harassment of a minor for contacting me?

Tldr; My mother hates my boyfriend. Last night there was a very heated argument and my mother threatened to press charged against my boyfriend if he contacts me again. She reasons that since I am still a minor she has the legal right to dictate who I speak to. My boyfriend just enlisted in the Navy and they won't accept him if he has charges on his record. Can my mom press charges against him? I live in Indiana, too if that makes any difference. submitted by /u/Lazy_Cabinet_2923 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I (m44) am filing for divorce from (f40) and have questions about what information might be relevant to a filing in Texas.

tldr - Does my wife's affair, addictions, abuse towards me, or refusal to work influence asset division in Texas? I have been married to my partner for 10 years (together for 13) - no kids, but we own a house - and I am trying to figure out what information is and isn't valid when filing. My wife and I are part of a church community that can be quite harsh and judgmental, so unless certain features of our separation are necessary, I don't want to bring them into the divorce proceedings since she will need her church family for support once we are divorced. Due to some extenuating circumstance ..read more

Wedding Venue Cancelled

Well, as the title explains, we unfortunately have to replan our whole wedding that was scheduled for October 2024. On top of our venue cancelling and not returning our money, we have lost all deposits to our other vendors such as photographer, dj, etc. We had found a mansion in Kentucky under an LLC, that rents out the building as a vacation stay. We had planned to have our family and friends join us and stay at the mansion for a wedding weekend. There have been many weddings at this location, and we were very happy with our venue selection. We paid a total of $5,400 for the mansion from Oct ..read more

We bought a home a few years ago with an existing fence. The back portion of the yard backs up to undeveloped and overgrown land owned by the neighboring HOA. Anyway, the back of our yard was overgrown with lots of dead and dying trees and was a tick Eden. We assumed the land inside the fence was ours and we paid to have about 20 trees removed and have slowly cleared the brush back. We want to put in a shed and pulled the Plat. Apparently, the fence on one side starts at the shared property line and encloses a triangular piece of the HOA land maybe 50’ x 200’. Oddly enough, our fence is about ..read more

I want to give a Google review on a church who has knowingly hired as their lead pastor a convicted felon of sexual misconduct with a minor while a pastor ay another church. The elders (leaders) of the church know about this conviction BUT the congregation does not know. I think people should have the right to know. Can I get sued for leaving a Google review that is the truth, backed up with court documents of the conviction as well as prison documents of his time served. I don't want to know if you think is it right or wrong to do this. I just want to know if I can get sued for telling the t ..read more

Ex wife gave her old car to our son to drive. Now says I’m responsible for insurance

My ex-wife recently, against my wishes, gave our son her old vehicle to drive as she was purchasing a new one. This car she gave him to drive is in her name, it is titled in her name, and she owns it outright with no lien. I did not want to give our son a car. I was of the opinion that he had to earn it. Nevertheless, she has given it to him and has put a ridiculous amount of full coverage insurance on this car. Again, the car has no lien and is in her name and the insurance policy is all hers. She’s telling me that I am obligated to pay the car insurance for my son. We have 50-50 legal and p ..read more

I canceled my subscription to my internet provider, half a year ago. I went to one of their offices to drop equipment off. I Asked if I had a balance to pay, they said no, I also checked the app for a balance, and nothing. They never sent a bill, and now I'm getting a call from collections saying I owe money. Is there something I can do about it or is it a done deal and just pay? submitted by /u/MaleficentLink9371 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Taking my roommate to small claims court- seeking advice (TN, USA)

I'm planning on taking my current roommate to court for non-payment of rent for June/July 2023 as well as for late payments she told me she would pay me back for. In total, she owes me right around 2k. Should I file the claim against her now or wait until the end of our lease? If she stops paying rent again when I file a claim against her, would I be able to take her back to court a second time? She knows I'm going to court as she has refused to pay me back so far, so I'm not worried about retaliation. submitted by /u/maddiewithluv [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Condo association troubles!

My sister is selling her condo, but the woman who live below her is too much. Someone put an offer in about 20 percent lower than asking price. My sister declined. 2 weeks goes by and this same person put in an offer at asking price. Cash. They seemed very interested. They asked to look over the financials of the condo association. When the real estate talked to a member of the association about the records, the woman living below my sister, she said that she wanted to vet the prospective buyers. Real estate agent reminded her that was illegal and she should not engage in any conversations re ..read more
