Sky Q gets turned off tomorrow after 12 years with Sky and don’t want to splash out £229 immediately on the 500GB box if a newer version is just around the corner. Help needed please. sky Q was working perfectly now trying to switch to freesat. please note we dont have a sat dish. Its a new build house 2019 so some kind of magic/voodoo/ wizardary I guess. Here is the TV media distribution box how Sky set it up I have set up freesat box in the same way as SkyQ - hdmi, ethernet and sat2 rfin2 was but freesat comes up with no signal. I have had an Arris 4k 1Tb box for a week now,. Yesterday all the SD channels started having picture freeze when watching. i.e. the picture frezzes for a second then jumps to live again, the sound continues fine without a glitch? SD recordings are worse, they have jumps in both picture and sound. HD channels all seem fine. Anyone else had this problem ..read more

Hi Everyone My parents Sky Q subscription is coming to an end and due to them being pensioners, and with the current cost of living crisis, they do not want to renew their Sky Q subscription, so they have been looking at moving to FreeSat. Unfortunately they do not have a TV aerial installed and Freeview is not available to them, FreeSat is their only option, or at least I think it is. Dear all, My wife and I watch German TV channels (the regular free ones you get in Germany). We had an AMIKO satellite received which now seems to have given up the ghost. The sat dish is aligned to Astra 19.2. My question is, would any old receiver pick up the channels, or would we need a particular type to do this? Thanks ..read more

Sky are hiking their prices for me and its now such poor value - from £38 to over £60 for basic channels, Netflix and 2 boxes. Was going to go to Virgin as have their 1Gb broadband (ditched BT/EE recently and saving hundreds pa...). Virgin want 15 a month for 2 boxes and 2nd box does UHD. Few q's: Virgin is coax to each box from outside the house right? They wont use the broadband? Is the functionality OK - like record 6 progs at once and stable? 2nd box plays progs... A few years ago I made the incredibly stupid decision to buy an Arris 4K recorder which from the outset was the worse piece of electronic kit I have ever seen, by far. Anyway after cursing at the thing daily it eventually stopped receiving a signal from the Wideband lnb just after the warranty had expired & no amount of changing cables, changing lnb, checking the alignment etc worked.
