Humidification and Sinus Cavities?

Occasionally in the mornings after using my CPAP I'll use a Neti pot to give the nasal passages a rinse if feeling a bit stuffed up (pressure feeling around the eyes and forehead). Not immediately, but a while after and particularly if I should bend over, the floodgates open and my nose will start running. It sometimes seems like what comes out is more than I might have used with the Neti pot which mostly goes in one nostril and out the other. Would the humidification of the CPAP tend to collect in the sinus cavities though the night and remain there until the Neti rinse loosens something up ..read more

Anomalous CA/CSR output from OSCAR?

This is a follow-up to my post yesterday (How Does ResMed APAP distinguish OSA vs. CSA?), in which I noted that immediately upon starting APAP therapy, I was seeing zero OSA's but a substantial number of CSA's (whereas a previous pre-APAP sleep test showed only OSA's, and a negligible number of CSA's). I gather this is not entirely unexpected when starting PAP therapy. But now last night, after a seemingly minor settings change from the previous night (max pressure reduced from 8.0 to 7.6 cmH2O, EPR level increased from 1 to 2), the data show a whole proliferation of CSA's appearing in t ..read more

Finally giving OSCAR a shot after 4 months of CPAP with no results

Hey y'all, new member here. I've been feeling really hopeless lately because my apnea hasn't seemed to improve at all, so here I am. Let me add some context first that might be helpful: I have both obstructive and central sleep apnea, however I use a CPAP because my doctor believes that the central apnea is caused by my POTS, and I don't tend to have the central apneas unless I have an obstructive apnea. So we're just focusing on making sure that obstructive apneas don't start up.  Secondly, my tongue is pretty weak, and tends to drop to the bottom of my mouth moments before I fall ..read more

Zephyer valve, lung volume reduction
Apnea Board Forum

This is related to sleep apnea because often people with COPD have sleep apnea. Does anyone have or have knowledge of zephyer valve to reduce the lung volume. I have less than 50% lung volume and I am being tested for this possible procedure. Any information would be welcome. Here is a video explaining it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFHTxXLQqug Thanks, car54 ..read more

Anyone here NOT using a water reservoir?

Yesterday, I was making some adjustment settings and I accidentally turned the "Climate Control" off.  I filled my water tank up to max level last night as always and this morning I removed the tank to find it still full of water. After emptying and drying it, I went back into the settings and saw what I did.  The thing is, I slept normally and didn't miss the moisture at all. I always have the tube temp. off, as well as the humidity level.  I have the block-off adapter to replace the water tank, but have yet to use it.  Just curious if anyone else doesn't use a wat ..read more

Confused about Events?

Hello. I was recently put on a CPAP machine a few weeks ago. The machine is an AirSense 11 with a F20 full face mask. The first few days, I was showing very low AHI around 5 or less. But what I failed to notice was that my leak rate was very high, maybe 30-50+ at some points. I have since adjusted my mask to be a little bit tighter which made the leak rate all but gone. But now I am showing AHI averages of 40+. I am wondering if this data shows more of an issue towards the mask or is it my sleep position. Let me know,   Q6c4Eda.png (Size: 42.08 KB / Downloads: 1 ..read more

More events + higher pressure in early morning waking me up? Looking for advice!

Hi all,  I've been looking at my data on Oscar over the past 3 weeks, and while I have made some pressure changes to the original 5-20 setting prescribed by my doctor which maybe have helped, I have noticed a trend that hasn't changed much.  That is that my events seem to increase a significant amount anywhere between 4-7 hours after I fall asleep. Most often than not, right around 5-6 hours, and it has become an issue as just I need more sleep. The pressure on my apap (airsense 11) seems to increase to try and help as the events tick up, but also seems to fail to stop th ..read more

Hi all, I've been using a cpap for over 5 years successfully but for the last month, everyday, I've been waking up with bad neck pain, jaw pain, back-of-the-head headache, and that terrible exhaustion feeling. I assume it's related to my apnea so I'm starting down the road of adjusting my settings but getting nowhere quick. Some internet searching brought me here and learned about OSCAR. I had the original Dreamstation, which was replaced with a Dreamstation 2, using ResMed AirTouch F20 masks. Attached a few days worth of OSCAR screen shots. Settings that are cropped from the images ..read more

Hi, guys lets tell about me. I am 28 years old male and i live in UK. From nearly a decade i was experiencing waking up a few times per night and overall i never felt refreshed. Also i snored but i never thought i might have a sleep disorder. Over time it progressed and it become harder to motivate myself to go to work. So before 2 years i decided to made a private sleep study and i was diagnosed with Mild OSA or more likely UARS. The AHI was 6.5. I bought APAP Lowenstein Prisma SmartMax. It was easy for me to start sleeping with full face mask. I was hoping that it will help me significantly b ..read more
