The website is full of collectibles right now. Not sure how long they will be available. It would be cool to see and hear the oldest Zildjian cymbal in existence today. They should make a video on that. They must have one or two in their vault somewhere you'd think ..read more

Would you buy these slightly dented Zildjian A New Beats?

Hi all, I found these used Zildjian A New beat hi hats for a seemingly good price. I'm slightly concerned about a rather noticeable dent on the edge of the top cymbal. Is it something that will have affect the sound significantly? Is it something you would steer clear from, for fear of further damage down the line (eg. could a crack start forming there) many thanks ..read more

Paiste PST-7 any insights? Opinions

I have always loved Paiste Cymbals and always regretted selling my 2002's. I bought a set of PST-8's which I thought were top of the line of the budget kits but as it turns out they are completely different to other PST series cymbals in a way I don't like. Be great for rock / hard rock. I play light rock, country etc. I have read the PST-7's will get you close to a 2002. Only one set available near me which is the "light" set (I am living in remote Thailand) Anyone have any first hand knowledge of this cymbal? I am looking for that nice crisp, tight 2002, not too in your face sound Aka Eagle ..read more

How Many Crashes?

How many crashes do you like to use? For a long time I used two, but some songs I play need three, so that is what I now use. How about you? Peace and goodwill 100_0595[1].jpg I use a 17 inch AAX Studio Crash, an 18 inch AAX Studio Crash, and an SR2 18 inch Thin. The two 18 inch crashes are very different in pitch. Anyone familiar wit Wuhan log/stamping to date them?

I'm looking to buy one of their crash cymbals. The latest, the ones on their site, have western lettering. They look different... more lathing, less hammering. One for sale on ebay has all chinese text/stamp. It would be nice to know even what decade thy are from. Also, i remember reading somewhere they branched out to making more western sounding hats, crashes, rides. When did this happen? And are they series specific? I just want a regular old Wuhan chinese-sounding crash... not one trying to sound Zildjian or whatever. appreciate any info! jasyr ..read more

Paiste PST-8 opinions / advice

Just bought a set of these hoping they would be like the Alpha's. I just jumped straight in thinking PST-8's were the top of the range PST series. This isn't the case of course. Very happy with the hi hats and ride...but not sure on the crash cymbals. I am not a heavy crash hitter nor does it suit the music I play. Am thinking now probably should have got the 5's or 7's....closer to 2002 feel. The crashes sound a bit gong "ish" to me (for want of a better word), but of course they may sound different out the front and definitely sound better when struck harder. Anyone have a set have any thoug ..read more

Buying Cymbals Online

If you are planning to buy cymbals online by watching videos, your computer sound system matters quite a bit. If your sound system is not good, the cymbals will sound much different online than when you hear them in person. The cheapest way to get good sound is through headphones. But there many bad headphones out there. With many "mom and pop" music stores closing, it is getting harder to hear good cymbals in person. I am lucky because I have been an audiophile almost as long as I have been playing drums. So when I bought cymbals based on online videos, they sounded almost the same in person ..read more

Dang it, I Cracked my 18" HHX legacy last night : (

My own fault I think I got carried away during a blink 182 song and the crowd was really into it and I started crashing 1/4 notes straight on instead of swiping. No need to tell me you been playing death metal for 50 years and have never cracked a cymbal, I get it. I took it to DCP today and they are contacting Sabian to see if they can get it warrantied for me. Sabian has a 2-year warranty and I bought this set about 13 months ago but they said it depends on the placement and type of crack so fingers crossed. hhx crack.jpg hhx crack1.jpg Attached Images hhx crack.jpg (78.1 KB) hhx crack1.jpg ..read more
