Why did this pair of beat up old 22" Zildjians bring $1000+ on Ebay ?

Stated by seller to be from Atlanta drummer Rodney Burruss of the Four Souls Band. A pair of 6 lb. 22" ride cymbals that have certainly been played a ton. Bidding looked legitimate with 5 bidders at $600+....and a high feedback "re-seller" at over $800. I don't see that either of these as an old K in disguise. Can the high price be just because of their group affiliation? A cool looking pair of cymbals with tons of "mojo"......just didn't think they'd bring over $250-$400 or so... Read more ..read more

Fixing bell cracks on vintage cymbals?

I have a beautiful 16” vintage A crash ride with a great weight and patina, but it has some pretty nasty spider cracking that is not stable (figured out the hard way.) It’s a shame because I really like this cymbal, does anyone have any recommendations on how to cut these out without messing up the sound? Thanks ..read more

I have waaaaaaaaayyyy too many cymbals and I like my cymbals to be clean, so spending a lot of time cleaning them can be a huge PITA. I’ve used Zildjian paste in the past with not that terrific of results. Way too much time, way too much effort and it leaves an ugly bluish haze that never really buffs off. It also can remove logos and doesn’t work on traditional finishes. I’ll never use this stuff again. I later found Sabian spray cleaner later in my life and it worked pretty well for... TV Cymbal Swells

As someone who enjoys a lot of television, especially various reality shows, has anyone else noticed the inordinate use of the one sample of a fast cymbal swell that accompanies the beginning and end of every segment? It's especially noticable when watching without commercials. Yet another of my getting older everything annoys me quirks ..read more

Canadian K Zildjian

Recently picked up a Canadian K 20” medium. I was wondering if anybody here has experience with these, or knows anything interesting. Honestly I’m not a huge fan. To pingy and heavy for me, but still super dark with an incredibly low profile. It’s cool for historical purposes, just doesn’t sound too great. My specimen has been abused, not a hint of ink stamp and super filthy. The bell hole is spider-cracking and there is a 1 inch crack midway down the bow. Doesn’t seem to affect sound ..read more

Sorry to be asking a question that may have been asked here before. I saw a 20in Zildkian Ping Rid for sale private;y for $80. it didn't appear to be ZBT or an "I" type, so the price got the better of my curiosity. Doing a search, I found several of the same cymbal ( used ) ranging anywhere from around $90 to $105. I also came across a 20in "A" Zildjian cymbal that costs considerably more ( like over $300), so what am I looking at here... Read more ..read more
