I realize this is an unpopular opinion but the glowing reviews really baffle me. I am an old school Nintendo fan with Mario games being the one franchise I religiously buy. I don’t feel like writing a novel here but it just felt meh. Perhaps it was the ability to change into other things was recently done so much better with odyssey so I just didn’t feel any sense of wonder transforming into a thwomp. The switcharoo in each level was meh, like wow now it’s a top down perspective, big deal. I'd played a few Kirby games in my day and aside from the strong nostalgia for Crystal Shards, didn't get too attached to any. I got Forgotten Land on sale with the plan to play it when I was in the mood for something light, and then put it down after a couple worlds. I came back to it a couple months later, determined to at least finish it before I sell it, but then the endgame took me way longer than I expected... and I wanted to do all of it.
