What are people's thoughts on practicing in shorter periods throughout the day? I've been learning for about 18 months now and am finding that lately I hit a hard wall where I can't seem to force myself to practice for more than 30-45 minutes at a time before I just can't seem to fully concentrate. I took about a 2 month hiatus due to work stress and picked back up couple of weeks ago. Maybe trying to practice for 30 minutes at a time a few times a day might be more beneficial, at least until I can break past this mental block? I've been playing piano since when i were 7 years old, and i also went to the conservatory of music. I kinda drop the conservatory at half way through and apart from music scale, Hanon and any exercise to make my hands more "free" to move, what i did it's just learning how to learn new advanced piece. I for most of my life have been trained to play piano from sheet music, and never even learned chords and all that. I can only read sheet music and with a slow process learned to play relatively difficult pieces (Things like Animenz Unravel, moonlight sonata 3rd movement, and my last piece was a fairly tough chopin etude.)
