I have tried to identify this Smith and Wesson, that was my grandparents. Not as easy as I thought! I figured I could put the serial number in somewhere and it would spit out the answer.... Nope!
My son suffered using this forum, and I admit to ignorance on how to use it, or frankly if I am even going to be successful posting this!
It's a . 22 Smith and Wesson CTG which I've learned the CTG means cartridge.... I assume it's pre 1960, but readily admit I have no idea why I think that. I...

This 29-2 has 2 numbers and I'm not sure which is the serial number.
One is on the frame and covered when cylinder is closed and starts with 704xxx (6 digits). With the model number under it. This may be the serial number because it looks like it has an N prefix.
The other is 5 digits, no prefix, and on the movable part of the cylinder. This number starts with 422 and looks like it was stamped seperate from the last 2 digits. These three digits look like they were stamped seperatly...

Got to thinking about my revolver assortment today and thought today might be good for some outside pics.
I photographed one of the under represented types in my assortment, which is Blued K Frames.
Never really went looking for specific guns. I just bought mostly whatever showed up in the area. As a result I only have 2, Blued K frames. One is a pre model 10 from 1955 and the other is a 15-3, shipped in 1969. The 38 M&P was my first S&W revolver.

The RCBS order acknowledgement informs the buyer (order placed 4-5-24) that normal delivery is in 7 to 10 business days. UNLESS you placed your order after 4-4-24. When calling RCBS about the missing order; no tracking #, no 'it shipped' email, just a charge on my credit card; the absolutely sweet-voiced lady who took my call on 4-15-24 @ 4:05 EDT, told me that there is a computer system change-over and all order processing / information is delayed for at least 2 weeks.
I politely...

Picked up a new to me 638-3. Impressed with accuracy (and of course reliability) over my .380 pocket pistol. Any suggestions for a pocket holster? Have an old Uncle Mike's size 3 and it doesn't cover the trigger and too narrow for the barrel to sit in the bottom.
Going to stick with the stock grips for now. A padded backstrap would be nice shooting +P, but don't want it to be too big for CC ..read more
