Tonight’s feature conference is the Horizon League, where Oakland is out to a surprising start after struggling through most of their OOC schedule. They had a big win tonight against Youngstown State to maintain their hold on 1st place. Purdue Fort Wayne, who we were the biggest on coming into league play, has struggled since the start of conference play. From there, we run through the other 21 UTR leagues and discuss how teams like Grand Canyon and Princeton are looking more and more like they could land inside the bubble and make the NCAA Tournament even if they don’t win their conference to ..read more

We look back on a week where we had eight top ten teams lose to unranked opponents, including Purdue who fell at Nebraska, Houston to fell twice to TCU and Iowa State, and Tennessee who stumbled at Mississippi State. We discuss those games, and more, as we run through all ten major conferences and look at Colorado’s and Utah’s struggles in the Pac 12, Dayton who keeps surging in the Atlantic 10, FAU’s inconsistency in the American, how Memphis has been in a lot of close games, but won most of them, North Carolina is playing like a #1 seed, Providence and Illinois have struggled since losing ke ..read more

Chad and David are back for a vintage edition of Under the Radar! Like the old days, it’s just the two of them. Tonight’s feature conference is the Summit League, which has been really strong in recent years, but has been somewhat disappointing this year. We discuss their inaugural challenge with the Big Sky Conference, which has one of the most interesting tiebreakers we’ve ever seen with the conference commissioners arm-wrestling at the Final Four to determine the winner if all other tiebreakers fail to break the tie! From there, we run through the other 21 UTR leagues and discuss how Weber ..read more

Chad and the panel recap a busy week in college basketball, and look ahead to an equally busy week that’s coming up. North Carolina is suddenly looking like one of the best teams in the country after their road win against Clemson, Cincinnati went form being way off the radar to solidly in the picture after a huge win at BYU, Oregon had a big week out in the Pac 12 with two big road wins against the Washington schools, Northwestern got a big win that they really needed against Michigan State, and the Mountain West has four teams that look to be solid tournament teams with a chance of even gett ..read more

PROGRAM NOTE: This show was recorded at 7:30pm est on Wednesday, January 3rd and did not take into account any of the games that were played that day, most notably Seton Hall’s win at Providence, or Nebraska vs Indiana, or anything else that would have impacted the bracket. It is the first Bracket Rundown Video Podcast of the season! For this first edition, we built the entire seedlist and bracket out or Joby Fortson’s JNG RATINGS. We reveal each team line by line and discuss each of them as we go. We talk about which teams the JNG may be overvaluing at this point, as well as who all has the p ..read more

Happy New Year Everybody!! Chad and the panel are back for the first Hoops HD podcast of the new year, and we cover a lot as conference play is now getting in to full swing. It was also a busy end of the year with three major upsets in Notre Dame’s blowout over Virginia, Stanford’s blowout over Arizona, and Florida Atlantic’s loss at Florida Gulf Coast. We look at all three of those, as well as how much Gonzaga seems to now be struggling. The Mountain West has as many as six teams that could land inside the bubble, and a couple who may be on pace to earn protected seeds. Houston is tops in nea ..read more

It is our last podcast of 2023! Tonight’s feature conference is the MAC, and the reason we feature it is because of how we think it has underperformed. Akron has a decent overall record, but their overall resume is hurting. Ohio U has also dealt with injuries and that has effected their play. Still, we think it will be an exciting league once it gets rolling. From there, we move on to the other 21 UTR leagues and talk about how we think Weber State and Montana are the teams to beat in the Big Sky, Appalachian State had a surprising loss, but should still be able to challenge James Madison out ..read more

Ken Pomeroy, publisher of KenPom.com, is our guest on this special edition of the Hoops HD Report.  We focus on his site and ratings and talk about how he got started in publishing his site, what exactly his rankings are trying to measure, and look at some misconceptions that people have about how his rankings work.  We also discuss the NET, which is used by the NCAA, and how similar it is to the KenPom rankings, and we speculate on how the NCAA Selection Committee may be utilizing the different types of metrics. And for all you radio lovers, below is an audio only version of the sh ..read more
